Imprisoned Woman with Lung Tumor Denied Medical Parole

December 10, 2019 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) Ms. Qin Zengyun was found to have a tumor growing in her lung about a year after she was imprisoned for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

The prison authorities turned down her family’s request for medical parole for her because she refuses to renounce her faith.

Ms. Qin, a resident of Fushun City, Liaoning Province, was targeted in a mass arrest of local Falun Gong practitioners on July 22, 2016. She was indicted by the Dongzhou District Procuratorate on March 13, 2017, and appeared in the Dongzhou District Court between September and November 2018.

It was confirmed by Minghui.org in early December 2018 that she had been sentenced to three and a half years and sent to Liaoning Province Women’s Prison, a place notorious for its brutal torture of Falun Gong practitioners.

Ms. Qin’s family said they were notified by the prison in late August 2019 that she had fluid buildup in one of her lungs. They applied for medical parole for her, but the prison authorities denied the request, adding that they had never approved such a request for a Falun Gong practitioner.

Prison officials called Ms. Qin’s family again on December 1, 2019, and told them to come visit her on December 3. That was when they learned she had a tumor. Ms. Qin is being treated in the prison hospital and is very weak.
