(Minghui.org) A married couple in Xiaogan City, Hubei Province were arrested on September 26, 2019 for their faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999. The police confiscated their personal belongings, valuing more than 400,000 yuan.
Mr. Xu Zhangqing and his wife, Ms. Tu Ailan, live together with their son, daughter-in-law, and one-year-old granddaughter. Their son, who doesn’t practice Falun Gong, was also arrested and detained. His wife, Ms. Chen Chunyan, faced frequent harassment from police after her husband and parents-in-law were arrested.
Ms. Chen moved in with a relative, only to see police follow her there. She is now forced into displacement with her baby girl. Her grandmother-in-law, Mr. Xu’s mother, is in her 80s and has been bedridden after suffering two strokes since 2018. She now struggles to care for herself and is anxious about the safety of her loved ones and longing for their return.
Arrest and Home-ransacking
A group of officers broke into the home of Mr. Xu, a government employee in Xinpu Town and his wife, Ms. Tu, a retired elementary school teacher, around 9:30 p.m. on September 26, 2019.
The officers ransacked the couple’s home until 3 a.m., confiscated their savings of more than 300,000 yuan in cash, as well as other valuable items worth 100,000 yuan.

Both detention centers have denied visitation to the three family members and only allowed their loved ones to send in clothes to them.
