(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 8 provinces. According to this report, 3 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 9 were illegally arrested.

1. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Li Zhanbin Detained

Mr. Li Zhanbin of Fangzheng County, 57, was arrested and taken to the Fangzheng County Detention Center by officers from the Fangzheng County Domestic Security Division on August 18, 2018.

2. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Tortured in Hebei Women's Prison

The Thirteenth Ward in Hebei Province Women's Prison focuses on coercing practitioners to give up their faith. More than 40 practitioners are being held there. Instructor Gao Lina is in charge. Guards play propaganda defaming Falun Gong day and night, allow practitioners only two hours of sleep. When they see a practitioner doing the exercises, they tie her hands and feet, punish her by forcing her to stand for a long time, and shock her with electric batons.

Ms. Kong Hongyun from Baoding City was tortured for doing the Falun Gong exercises. Guards and inmates shocked her with electric batons, beat her, pulled hair out, and deprived her of restroom usage. She went on a hunger strike to protest the torture. Inmates pulled her teeth with pliers.

3. [Chongqing] Ms. Hong Liu Facing Trial

Ms. Hong Liu was put on trial by the Jiangbei District Court on the morning of September 3, 2018.

4. [Guangan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Meng Yufang Being Abused

Ms. Meng Yufang of Linshui County was arrested by Zhu Yongan and others from the Linshui County Domestic Security Division on the morning of April 26, 2018. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books, computer, cell phone, and other items. She was detained for 15 days. Police put her under surveillance after her release and forced her son to abuse her.

5. [Chongqing] Ms. Xiao Hong Detained and Brainwashed

Ms. Xiao Hong of Rongchang District was arrested on August 3, 2018 and detained for 15 days. She was taken to a brainwashing center on August 21.

6. [Xinxiang City, Henan Province] Ms. Zhao Yuxia's Case Goes to Court

Ms. Zhao Yuxia was arrested by officers from the Hongmen Police Station on the afternoon of March 8, 2018 for telling people about the persecution of Falun Gong in Hongmen Venue Compound. Police took her to a detention center and ransacked her home.

Hongqi District Procuratorate has filed her case to the Hongqi District Court.

7. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ten Practitioners Facing Trial

Ten residents in Yantai City recently received copies of indictments against them for refusing to renounce Falun Gong.

The 10 practitioners were arrested on September 15, 2017. Ms. Pan Rongqing, Ms. Pan Yanyan, Ms. Ma Yuzhen, 63, and Ms. Zhao Shuyu are detained at Fushan Detention Center.

Ms. Han Zhongxiang, 71, Ms. Xiao Shuxian, 70, Ms. Wu Xiangding, 79, Ms. Sun Mingqiu, 63, and Ms. Zou Benzhen, 67 were released on bail. Ms. Zhang Huiying, 74, is under house arrest. These six practitioners have received phone calls or home visits from local authorities.

It is unclear when the 10 practitioners will appear in court.

8. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Yuexia Sentenced

Ms. Wang Yuexia, a Falun Gong practitioner in her 60s, was sentenced to three years in prison by the Gaocheng District Court in 2017.

Ms. Wang was arrested on October 21, 2016 for hanging up a banner that said, “Falun Dafa is great.” She was tried on May 23, 2017.

9. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Mr. Zhang Wuhan Sentenced

Mr. Zhang Wuhan, 72, was sentenced to two years in prison by the Gaocheng District Court in 2018.

After two prisons in Shijiazhuang refused to accept him due to his health issues, the police took him to another prison in Tangshan, a city of more than 250 miles from Shijiazhuang.

Mr. Zhang was arrested on September 7, 2017 for passing out informational brochures about Falun Gong in a village. The police ransacked his home and detained him at a detention center.

Since the communist regime launched the persecution against Falun Gong in 1999, Mr. Zhang has been repeatedly arrested and detained for speaking up for his faith.

10. [Daan City, Jilin Province] Mother and Daughter Sentenced

Ms. Zhang Fengling and her daughter Wang Hongyan were sentenced by the Taonan City Court. Ms. Wang was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment and fined 5,000 yuan. She has been transferred to Jilin Women’s Prison. Ms. Zhang, 70, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment with two years’ probation. She was also fined 5,000 yuan and has been released.

11. [Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Yang Jie Arrested Again

Ms. Yang Jie was arrested at home by police on July 30, 2018. She was taken to the Hangzhou Detention Center.

This was the third arrest. She had been sentenced to five years of imprisonment in 2012 and was released on November 2, 2017.

12. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yang Yuhui Sentenced

Ms. Yang Yuhui was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment by the Taihe District Court on August 21, 2018. She was also fined of 50,000 yuan.
