Righteous Thoughts Helped Me Get Through Tribulations
(Minghui.org) I have experienced many tribulations since I began practicing Falun Dafa in 1998. I was able to overcome them by studying the Fa and having strong righteous thoughts.
I was diagnosed with kidney problems in 1998 and hospitalized. The side effects from the injections I received caused compression of a spinal nerve. I had such severe pain in my lower back, hips, and legs that I could not perform simple tasks without help. I could not take care of myself or my six-year-old daughter.
My husband suggested that I practice Falun Dafa. Through doing the exercises and studying the Fa, I soon completely regained my health and recovered from my kidney problems.
Dafa Saved My Life
I started passing large blood clots not long after I took up the practice. I became pale and felt weak. At one point, I felt that my heart would stop beating.
All of my siblings and family members gathered around my bed convinced that I was dying. The doctor shared my lab results and his diagnosis with them. They wanted to blame my husband for introducing Dafa to me.
At that time, I was able to let go of the thought of dying. But after seeing their hostile attitude toward my husband and Dafa, my righteous thoughts emerged. I said to myself: I am a practitioner, I represent Dafa and cannot let my family think negatively of Dafa. I have to do my best to help save them.
With that one strong righteous thought, my health started to improve. My complexion became fair, and the small red bumps on my legs also disappeared. I looked like a different person!
At my high school reunion, all my former classmates complimented me. One of them said, “The rest of us got old and only you stayed young.” I took that opportunity to tell them about the persecution practitioners in China were facing.
The Power of Compassion
I wanted everyone to know the goodness of Dafa, so I would always talk to people about it.
I once talked to a man who listened for a while before lifting the corner of his shirt to reveal a pair of handcuffs hanging from his belt. He was a plainclothes policeman. He cautioned, “Stop talking now. Do you want me to arrest you?”
I remained calm and replied, “Policeman or not, everyone deserves the chance to be saved. I hope that you don't get involved in persecuting practitioners. Remember that Falun Dafa is good.” I sincerely wished him and his family well. He smiled and left.
Another time, I was arrested while distributing informational fliers about the practice. I did not resent the officers who arrested me and only had the wish to save them. With this thought, my handcuffs came off by themselves. The officers looked baffled. When they asked for my name, I said, “I can't tell you. It's for your own good. Please remember that Falun Dafa is good.”
A female officer then brought arrest documents for me to sign. But after a while, she said, “You're not going to sign, are you? Okay fine,” and she left.
Master Li taught us, “Whether it is a Buddha, a Tao, an immortal, or a demon, they should not move your heart.” (“Lecture Six” from Zhuan Falun)
At the detention center, I did the Dafa exercises as usual. The guard came to my cell, but I did not move and kept my eyes closed. I only held the thought that no one should touch me. I would not let anyone commit crimes against Dafa or practitioners.
The guard did not bother me and eventually left. My cellmates later told me that the guard just watched me and smiled. I truly experienced the power of compassion.
