(Minghui.org) Ms. Tong Julan, a 78-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from the Xinzhou District of Wuhan City in Hubei Province, was illegally arrested in early 2018 and has since been detained in the Wuhan City No. 1 Women's Detention Center for about five months. Her case is under the jurisdiction of the Xinzhou District Court. Her physical condition is very poor.
Ms. Tong is a schoolteacher who had been under police surveillance since September 2017. She was arrested on February 28, 2018, by agents from the 610 Office, domestic security police, and the Wuhan City Integrated Administration. The agents did not show any identification or a search warrant. They ransacked her home, arrested her, and took her to the detention center.
Back in November 1999, Ms. Tong was arrested and sentenced to three years of forced labor for not agreeing to stop practicing Falun Dafa. In 2004, she was arrested again by the Xinzhou District 610 Office and taken to a brainwashing center, where she was detained and ill-treated for a month.
In September 2009, a dozen people broke into Ms. Tong's home, ransacked it, and arrested her. The Xinzhou District police station and neighborhood association, on orders from their superiors, were to deliberately harass Falun Gong practitioners in the district to “celebrate the foundation of the nation.”
