(Minghui.org) I was walking in an alley at 11 a.m. on March 9, 2018, when I heard someone shouting, “The police are arresting good people!”
I ran toward the voice and saw a man and a woman dragging a white-haired lady. The elderly lady's clothes were pulled up to her shoulder in the struggle. She kept shouting, “The Chinese Communist Party police are arresting good people!”
More people in the neighborhood came out to see what was happening. The two officers tried to stuff the elderly lady into a waiting car, but she resisted with all her might. She told onlookers, “I am 81 years old. I broke no law and did nothing wrong. Is it fair for police to treat me this way?”
Some onlookers scolded the two officers for treating a senior citizen so rudely. Only then did the officers let go of their grip on her. I walked up to the elderly lady and asked why the police were trying to arrest her.
She said, “My name is Ma Zaizhen. These four officers (pointing to the two male and two female officers) came to my home at 9 o’clock this morning. They tried to take a blood sample from me. I told them I've been very healthy since I began practicing Falun Gong 18 years ago, and I no longer have to pay more than 30,000 yuan in medical expenses every month.”
I had heard about Falun Gong and knew that these plainclothes officers were persecuting Ms. Ma. I know Falun Gong teaches people to do good deeds and become better people, and it benefits people’s health. Ten years ago, a Falun Gong practitioner told me to remember, “Falun Dafa is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” I heeded the advice and saw my business boom. I've also become much healthier.
Ms. Ma continued, “I demanded to know what legal basis the police had to try to draw my blood. They flashed a piece of paper, saying it was an order from higher-ups. One of them grabbed my hands, and another one began recording video of me. A third person pulled out a needle, but he wasn't able to get anything as I struggled to get away.
“They dragged me downstairs and then all the way here. It hurt so much that I couldn’t breathe. I asked for help from my Master (the founder of Falun Gong), so they couldn’t drag me into the car. Thank you all for your care!”
A few onlookers told me that she has often been harassed by police during the past year.
I never really believed that police would abuse Falun Gong practitioners. My chance encounter with Ms. Ma changed my attitude. The persecution is real, and I began to understand why Falun Gong practitioners in China risk their lives to raise awareness of the persecution.
I will tell my family and friends about Falun Gong, too.
