Additional Persecution News from China – May 8, 2018 (9 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 5 provinces. According to this report, 7 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 8 were illegally arrested.

1. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wei Chunrong Detained

Ms. Wei Chunrong from Huanan County, Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province was arrested in Qingdao City by officers from the Zhengyanglu Police Station, when she was talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong on May 4, 2018.

Ms. Wei is being held in the Pudong Detention Center, Jimo City, Qingdao.

2. [Beijing] Mr. Hu Weixue Imprisoned in Lanzhou City

Mr. Hu Weixue from Gansu Province was working in Beijing when he was arrested by officers from the Shunyi Police Department and Changping Police Department on January 13, 2016.

The Changping Court opened a trial in August, 2016, and sentenced Mr. Hu to four years in prison in September, 2016. An intermediate court in Beijing rejected his appeal.

Mr. Hu's whereabouts were unknown, until it was finally confirmed on February 5, 2018, that Mr. Hu is being held in the 4^th Ward of Lanzhou Prison in Gansu Province.

3. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Guiyan Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Zhang Guiyan from the Haigang District, Qinhuangdao City was sentenced to three years in prison. She was taken to the Shijiazhuang City Women's Prison in Hebei Province.

4. [Jining City, Shandong Province] Mr. Yang Jirong Arrested

Mr. Yang Jirong was arrested on May 6, 2018, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.

5. [Hanshan County, Anhui Province] Ms. Li Jinfang Detained

Ms. Li Jinfang was arrested by officers from the Hanshan County Police Department in early May, 2018. She is being held in the Maanshan City Detention Center, Anhui Province.

6. [Shanghai] Three Practitioners Detained

Ms. Hua Liping, Ms. Liu Fendi, and another practitioner were arrested when they were distributing Falun Gong materials in the Pudong District on April 24, 2018.

The three practitioners are being held in the Pudong Detention Center, Shanghai.

7. [Kunming City, Yunnan Province] Five Practitioners' Appeals Rejected

Kuming City Intermediate Court rejected appeals from Ms. Zhu Yulian, Ms. Li Shixia, Ms. Gao Qiongxian, Ms. Lu Changying, and Ms. Qu Yuexian in mid-March, 2018.

Ms. Zhu was sentenced to three years in prison.Ms. Li, Ms. Gao and Ms. Lu were each sentenced to three years in prison, with two years probation.Ms. Qu was sentenced to eighteen months in prison, with two years probation.

8. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Deng Shaoying and Her Family Arrested

Ms. Deng Shaoying and her family were arrested at home by officers from the Chengdu City Police Department on the evening of May 5, 2018.

9. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Deng Weiyong and His Wife Arrested

Mr. Deng Weiyong and his wife were arrested on their way to work on May 5, 2018. Their Falun Gong books and materials, computer and other personal belongings at home were confiscated.
