Shanghai Woman, 75, Jailed Again for Her Faith

(Minghui.org) A 75-year-old woman in Shanghai was jailed again for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

Ms. Zhong Yijun was first arrested in May 2009, and it took her family six months to find out where she was being detained. She was later sentenced to 4 years in prison.

Ms. Zhong's latest arrest took place around late June 2017, and the local police again kept her family in the dark regarding her status. Her loved ones discovered one month later that she had been held at Putuo District Detention Center.

Judge Xie Yan of Putuo District Court sentenced Ms. Zhong to 3.5 years in prison, shortly after the latter's court appearance on December 24.

Ms. Zhong filed an appeal, only to see it rejected in April 2018.
