(Minghui.org) I have been practicing Falun Dafa for 21 years. Since the onset of the persecution which started on July 20, 1999, practitioners of this cultivation practice have been arrested, tortured, and many even lost their lives. Additionally, their homes have been ransacked and police have confiscated their money and belongings. All this was perpetrated by local police officers under the directive of Jiang Zemin, the former head of the communist regime.
We realized that police officers were poisoned by the lies publicized by the government-owned media. Thus, they committed bad deeds unknowingly by persecuting practitioners. They are also victims of the persecution and must learn the truth.
On the surface, they were executing “orders” from their supervisors, but when looking at it from a cultivation perspective, they were manipulated.
It is our responsibility to help them understand the facts behind the persecution. Once they learn the truth, they hopefully will protect practitioners instead of persecuting them.
Helping Police Understand the Facts of Dafa Is Urgent
I came to understand the urgency of the matter to awaken the conscience of these police officers.
The first step was to find the cell phone numbers of the director and deputy director of our county police department, sectional managers of each division and team, as well as other police officers. I then distributed the numbers among local practitioners, and we began to send either text messages with pictures or just plain text messages, depending on what we thought would be successful.
We received some feedback, which said the text messages were being spread among police officers. One police chief openly said in a meeting: “I think Falun Dafa will be redressed, as there is nothing wrong with teaching people to follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Whoever says that it is bad is wrong!”
We also sent out a letter and other informational materials to officers working in the judicial system, which we had referenced on the Minghui website.
The filing of criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin began in May 2015. I used related articles for the officers working in the judicial system, as well as other security-oriented personnel. Practitioners then mailed them to all the individuals on our list, including staff from the 610 Office.
Police Officer Protects a Practitioner
One of my relatives is a police officer who was seriously poisoned by the CCP's propaganda that slandered Falun Dafa. No matter how hard I tried to tell him the facts about Dafa, he turned a blind eye. He often said something disrespectful about Master Li (the founder of the practice) and Dafa itself. Although his wife was a practitioner, it did not make any difference.
Then one day he told us about something that had happened at work: “A man ran into my office and said that someone was putting up a banner that said 'Falun Dafa is wonderful' on an electrical pole. He wanted me to arrest him. He even knew the person's address and offered to take me there.
“I yelled at him 'Get out of here! You lied! You look like the one who put up the banner! Get out.' The man got scared and couldn't leave fast enough."
My relative had finally awakened to the truth but only after reading the text messages and truth-clarification letters other practitioners had sent him. Later on, he also helped practitioners protect their Dafa books.
Falun Dafa Is Good for Society
When another practitioner and I were sending text messages from a park in 2012, we did not pay attention to our safety and were arrested by several police officers. One police officer claimed that he had to search our bags.
“Are you trying to be rude,” I said. “I believe you all received the text messages we sent you. You are very clear that Falun Dafa is being wronged. Let me tell you, your responsibility as a police officer is to arrest the bad people and protect ordinary citizens. You have the right to search the suspect, but who is the suspect here?”
I continued, “It is written in Article No. 35 of the Constitution that a citizen is granted freedom of speech, publication, assembly, association, parades, and demonstrations. In addition, a citizen also has the freedom of religious belief, as stipulated in Article No.36.” To my surprise, they cited that article with me, and the atmosphere became peaceful.
This allowed me to further talk about Dafa. I said that practicing Falun Dafa is legitimate and that practitioners follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, whereas, in contrast to today's society, morality has sharply declined.
The head of the domestic security division then said, “It would be good if all Chinese people were to practice Falun Dafa as morality in society would be elevated!” They released us at lunchtime.
