Additional Persecution News from China – February 2, 2018 (9 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 7 provinces. According to this report, 15 Falun Gong practitioners were sent to detention centers, one was sentenced to prison, and at least 23 were illegally arrested.

1. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Ms. Ma Shufen Arrested

Ms. Ma Shufen was arrested by local police officers on January 31, 2018.

2. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Ms. Mu Yuzhuo Detained

Ms. Yuzhuo, 69, was arrested on January 25, 2018, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was later held at the No. 3 Detention Center. After the arrest, several officers ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books, informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong, and paper bills with information about Falun Gong written on them.

3. [Penglai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yang Shuyu and Mr. Xu Hongwei Detained

Ms. Yang Shuyu and Mr. Xu Hongwei are still being held at the Penglai Detention Center.

4. [Linqing City, Shandong Province] Mr. Kang Zongfeng and Ms. Wei Fengqin Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Kang Zongfeng was sentenced to a two-year prison term and fined 10,000 yuan on November 22, 2017. That same day, his wife, Ms. Wei Fengqin, was sentenced to 11 months in prison and fined 10,000 yuan. Mr. Kang appealed to the Dezhou Intermediate Court, which upheld the original sentence. Ms. Wei was released.

5. [Jian'ou City, Fujian Province] Six Practitioners Arrested

Six practitioners were arrested by officers from Jian'ou City on January 16, 2018, when they were reading Falun Gong books at Ms. Cao Rongxiu's home.

In addition to Ms. Cao, the five other arrested practitioners are Ms. Zhang Shuiying, Ms. Yang Canying, Mr. Ye Guohua, Mr. Cao Xirong, and Ms. Wu Guiying.

All of them were taken to a local police station for long periods of interrogation. The police confiscated Falun Gong books and pictures of the founder of Falun Gong, several volumes of Minghui Weekly, and other personal items. By 1 a.m. the following morning, five of them had been released. Mr. Ye is still being held at a detention center.

6. [Taikang County, Henan Province] Ms. Wang Yujue, Ms. Zhou Yufen, and Ms. Xie Dongxian Arrested

Ms. Wang Yujue was arrested and taken to the Zhoukou City Detention Center by officers from the Fucaolou Town Police Station on January 22, 2018, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.

During the last six months of 2017, Ms. Zhou Yufen, Ms. Xie Dongxian, and Ms. Wang were arrested by officers from the Fucaolou Police Station. Ms. Xie was released and the two others are being held in the Zhoukou City Detention Center.

7. [Linghai City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Xiaohuan Detained

Ms. Li Xiaohuan was arrested and had her home ransacked by Shishan Police Station officers on February 1, 2018, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong and advising them to quit the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated organizations. She was held at the Jinzhou City Detention Center for seven days.

8. [Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Li and Ms. Wu Juan Arrested

Ms. Wang Li and Ms. Wu Juan were arrested by officers from the Fengshan Police Department on February 1, 2018. They were taken to the Dandong Detention Center.

9. [Yueyang County, Hunan Province] Eleven Practitioners Arrested

Eleven practitioners were arrested on January 24, 2018. Five of them were released. Mr. Wang Yuelai, Mr. Mi Shibing, Mr. He Genliang, and Mr. Zhou Xiaoqiu were held in the Rongjiawan Detention Center; Ms. Guo Wangjun and Ms. Chen Quanxiu were held at the Yunxi Detention Center.
