Ms. Wang Haiyan Illegally Sentenced and Fined

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Haiyan was illegally tried by Haigang District Court in Qinhuangdao City on November 20, 2018. The court sentenced her to four years and three months in prison and fined her 3,000 yuan.

Ms. Wang's friends and family are submitting an appeal on her behalf.

Ms. Wang was arrested by officers from Duzhuang Police Station of Haigang District Police Department on May 20, 2017. Officers ransacked her home and confiscated her computer, printer, and other personal items. She has been detained in the Qinhuangdao Detention Center for over a year.

Her case was recently submitted to the court by the Haigang District Procuratorate.

Ms. Wang's relatives have also been arrested numerous times by Haigang and Kaifa District police departments. Her brother, Wang Haifeng, was sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp in 2000, while his wife, Lu Caiyun, was detained for 20 days. Ms. Wang's parents were also forced to stay away from home to avoid being harassed by police.
