(Minghui.org) Mr. Shao Chengluo in Qingdao City, Shandong Province was sentenced to 9 years on November 10, 2017 for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual practice based on meditation and the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. He has been subjected to various forms of abuse after being sent to Shandong Prison on January, 11, 2018.
The Chinese communist regime has been persecuting Falun Gong since July 1999. Many Falun Gong practitioners have been imprisoned, tortured, or even had their organs harvested for holding firm to their faith.
Mr. Shao Chengluo, 67-year-old physician in Shandong Province, is serving a 9-year term and has been tortured during detention.
Mr. Shao, 67, refused to wear a prison uniform as he broke no law and was wrongfully convicted. He went on a hunger strike in protest. Sun Luguang and Zheng Jie, captain and lieutenant for Division 11 of the prison, instructed inmates to take Mr. Shao for force-feeding at the prison hospital as punishment.
After Mr. Shao was brought back to his cell on March 19, officers ordered inmates to forcibly remove his clothes and put a prison uniform on him.
When Mr. Luo went on a hunger strike again in April, he was taken to the prison hospital for more force-feeding. After returning to Division 11 in August, he continued to protest with a hunger strike. Three days later, he was sent to the prison hospital a third time for force-feeding.
At 5'7'', Mr. Shao now weighs less than 90 pounds. He suffers from leg muscle atrophy and has difficulty walking.
Mr. Shao lives in Liutingzhao Village of Qingdao City, Shandong Province. As a Chinese Medicine physician specialized in acupuncture, he practiced medicine for decades and is well respected in the community. He used to suffer from heart disease, neck problems, and gallbladder issues. All these conditions went away after he began to practice Falun Gong.
After the persecution against Falun Gong started in July 1999, however, Mr. Shao has been detained multiple times, including three years of labor camp and seven years of imprisonment. Inside Qingdao Labor Camp and Shandong Prison, he was tortured in numerous ways. Some of his fingers and the big toe on his left foot were broken as a result of torture. His neck was also severely injured three times. The injury in his neck and spine still exists as of today.
The most recent arrest of Mr. Shao occurred on May 2, 2017, when officials found posters related to Falun Gong posted in nearby villages. Officers from Xiazhuang Police Station went to his home at midnight and confiscated over 100,000 yuan in cash, along with other personal belongings.
After Mr. Shao and his wife Ms. Gao Wenshu were taken to the police station, their case was forwarded to the Chengyang Court on August 31. A hearing took place in Chengyang Detention Center on September 13, but no verdict was reached on that day.
Under orders from the Qingdao Political and Legal Affairs Committee, as well as the Qingdao 610 Office, Mr. Shao was sentenced to 9 years and his wife to four years on November 10, 2017, while Ms. Gao was sentenced to four years. Their appeals to Qingdao Intermediate Court were turned down.
