Additional Persecution News from China – October 23, 2018 (15 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 6 provinces. According to this report, 9 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 12 were illegally arrested.

1. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhang Shude Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison

Mr. Zhang Shude, 28, was arrested while applying for a temporary resident ID in a police station on June 26, 2017. He was detained and later sentenced to seven years in prison for practicing Falun Gong.

Mr. Zhang was taken to the Nanshan Prison in Jinzhou City on October 16, 2018. His family went to the prison, but were not allowed to see him. Mr. Zhang has appealed to the Panjin Intermediate Court.

2. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Mr. Li Lianren Detained

Mr. Li Lianren was arrested by Jilin City Railroad officers. He was taken to the railroad police station and was detained for five days.

3. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Four Practitioners Detained

Ms. Wang Ruofang, Ms. Wang Chunmei, Ms. Liu Yanqin, and Ms. Qiu Baoling were arrested by Gonghe Police Station officers in the Tiexi District on September 16, 2018. They were taken to the Dadaowan Police Station, before being transferred to a detention center for ten days. They were then subjected to criminal detention.

Ms. Wang Chunmei, Ms. Liu, and Ms. Qiu were released on October 16, while Ms. Wang Ruofang is still being detained.

4. [Beijing] Ms. Sun Li Arrested

Ms. Sun Li, from Liuli River in the Fangshan District, was arrested by plainclothes officers for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Her whereabouts are unknown.

5. [Beijing] Mr. Li Jinrong Detained

Mr. Li Jinrong from the Dongcheng District was arrested by Yongwai Police Station officers while handing out Falun Gong information on the morning of October 16, 2018. He is being held in the Dongcheng Detention Center.

6. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Xu Meizhi Detained

Ms. Xu Meizhi from Laizhou was arrested by Chengguo Police Station officers when she was talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in the Chengguo Town Market Fair on October 17, 2018. She is being held in a detention center.

7. [Taigu County, Shanxi Province] Ms. Chen Quanying's Case Filed in Court

Ms. Chen Quanying was arrested by Shuixiu Township Police Station officers on July 19, 2018. She was taken to the Jinzhong City Detention Center.

The Taigu County Procuratorate filed charges against Ms. Chen to the Taigu County Court on October 11, 2018.

8. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Chen Yuhua Arrested

Ms. Chen Yuhua was arrested at home on October 19, 2018.

9. [Luoshan County, Henan Province] Ms. Yao Quanxiu Arrested

Ms. Yao Quanxiu was arrested at home on the afternoon of October 19, 2018.

10. [Sheqi County, Henan Province] Mr. Zhang Zhongyun and Ms. Wang Baoqing Arrested

Mr. Zhang Zhongyun, in his 60s, from Baihezhang in Jinzhuang Township, was arrested by Jinzhuang Police Station officers on September 29, 2018. His wife, Ms. Wang Baoqing, was arrested on October 9. Their computers, printers, and other personal belongings were confiscated.

The couple's whereabouts are unknown.

11. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zou Shuangfen Detained

Ms. Zou Shuangfen from the Dongxihu area was arrested by Zoumaling Police Station officers while talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in a public area on October 17, 2018. Her Falun Gong books and a photo of the founder of Falun Gong were confiscated.

Ms. Zou was taken to the No. 1 Detention Center in Erzhigou, Wujiashan for 15 days.

12. [Beijjing] Mr. Sun Chang Arrested

Mr. Sun Chang, from Liuli River in the Fangshan District, was arrested by a plainclothes officer while talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong at the Zhangfang Market on the morning of October 21, 2018.

13. [Sanmenxia City, Henan Province] Ms. Ji Chunmei Arrested

Ms. Ji Chunmei was arrested on October 16, 2018. Police confiscated her computer, printer, and Falun Gong materials.

14. [Chongqing] Ms. Luo Maozhen Arrested

Ms. Luo Maozhen from the Yubei District was arrested at home by Shuangfeng Police Station officers on the afternoon of October 12, 2018. Her Falun Gong books and printed materials were confiscated.

Ms. Luo's whereabouts are unknown.

15. [Yingcheng City, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Sentenced

Mr. Xiong Jiwei was sentenced to four and a half years in prison by the Anlu City Court. He has appealed to Xiaogan City Intermediate Court.

Mr. Wang Gangqiang and Mr. Xiong Wenzhi were sentenced by the Anlu Court on September 28, 2018. They were taken to Fanjiatai Prison in Shayang County, Hubei Province on October 17, 2018.
