Ms. Qian Aizhi Imprisoned for Suing Jiang Zemin

(Minghui.org) Ms. Qian Aizhi was arrested by local police on December 14, 2015, for filing a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, a former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), for initiating the persecution of Falun Gong. She has been held in the Liaoyang City Detention Center for nearly three years.

Before her arrest in December for suing Jiang, she was barely released months prior, in April. Her home was ransacked, and she was taken to the detention center. The police did not officially place her under arrest until ten days later, when her case was turned over to the Procuratorate.

History of Persecution

Ms. Qian became interested in learning Falun Gong in 1999 after seeing her father practicing. At the time, Ms. Qian had been plagued by leg pain for many years. After doing the Falun Gong exercises for only a few days, her leg pain disappeared.

As she continued to study the teachings of Falun Gong, she came to understand that the practice only teaches people to be good and to live by the standards of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

After the persecution of Falun Gong began, Ms. Qian exercised her constitutional right and went to the Beijing Appeals Office in September 1999 to speak up for the right to practice. She was arrested and placed under criminal detention as a result.

She was arrested again in March 2011 and detained by the Baita District Police Department in Liaoyang City. She was later arrested for the third time by officers from the Baita District Domestic Security Division on September 26, 2011. Her home was ransacked, and she was later sentenced to 3.5 years in prison.

At Liaoning Province Women's Prison, she was verbally abused, physically beaten, and locked in solitary confinement.
