(Minghui.org) Former Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Jiang Zemin claimed that he would eradicate Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, within three months after he initiated the brutal persecution of the spiritual practice in July 1999.
Even though the persecution has persisted for more than 18 years, more and more people I have met want to learn the practice.
Man from Countryside Wants to Learn Falun Gong
I was talking to someone about the persecution of Falun Gong at an intersection one day when I saw a man with a heavy bag pass by. After finishing my conversation, I ran to catch up with the man to talk to him about Falun Gong.
He listened to what I had to say, put his bag on the ground, and said, “I want to know more about Falun Dafa. I want to read the books and learn the exercises. Could you teach me?”
I asked for his contact details and promised to teach him.
He was from the countryside, far away from our city. He was doing odd jobs here and would soon return to his hometown. He hoped to get a copy of the book Zhuan Falun before he went back.
I went to see him with another practitioner a few days later. I couldn't find where he lived and had lost his phone number. The road was really dark.
We saw a light on in a house further up the road and knocked on the door. A man opened the door. He was happy to help us, but he didn't know the person we were looking for.
We told the man about Falun Gong and the persecution, and we told him about reciting “Falun Dafa is good” as it would bring him blessings. After listening to us, he said with a smile that his family members also practiced Falun Gong.
“No wonder you are so kind!” I exclaimed.
We finally located the man who wanted to learn Falun Gong. He lived with several other people. We spoke to all of them about Falun Gong and the crimes committed by the CCP. They all agreed to quit the Party.
The man was very happy that we brought him Zhuan Falun and instructional videos for the exercises. He said that he would read the book and do the exercise after work every day.
90-Year-Old Man Quits the CCP
I went to the countryside one day to hand out informational materials about Falun Gong and saw a group of people standing in the street. I walked over and gave them the materials. One woman looked at me and pointed to an old man. “Give it to him,” she said.
I turned and saw an old man who looked like he was at least 90 years old. I thought that the woman was joking with me, as I wondered if the man could hear or read or if he still had a clear mind. I ignored what the woman said and carried on talking to another man, and he decided to quit the CCP.
Then, this man also pointed to the old man and said, “He's a Party member.” I walked over to the old man and told him about Falun Gong and why the CCP persecutes Falun Gong practitioners. To my surprise, the old man listened very carefully and happily agreed to quit the CCP.
I gave him a copy of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. He told me that he had read it but would like to read it again.
When I spoke to others about Falun Gong, many of them agreed that it is a good practice, and some even encouraged me to persist in protesting the persecution until its end.
