(Minghui.org) I am a practitioner who learned Dafa before July 20, 1999, when the persecution of Falun Gong began. Due to my personal experiences of being persecuted, I resented the police and government officials from the bottom of my heart.

I’ve known that this thought was not in line with Dafa. I’ve known that I must change my thinking and get rid off my attachments and that I must look for opportunities to save those who persecute us, because they are actually the most unfortunate victims.

A local domestic security captain has participated in the persecution of Dafa practitioners many times. He is one of the most frequently reported on officers locally and on Minghui.org. Overseas and domestic practitioners have told him the facts about Falun Gong. Although he’s listened, he’s continued to persecute us, even very wickedly sometimes. He’s often participated in arresting or monitoring me. Whenever a local practitioner was arrested, he would mention me.

Once, when another practitioner was arrested, the captain told a different practitioner that he would take me to the forced labor camp immediately if the arrest was mentioned on the Minghui website. I knew it did not matter what he said, that only what Teacher says matters.

I asked myself why he treated me that way. I thought I should face him and tell him the facts, but I really did not want to. Why? I looked deep into my heart and found I had strong antagonism toward him. I resented him deeply due to long periods of persecution.

The captain then led several police officers to ransack practitioners' homes and arrest them. I thought, “I cannot let him commit crimes again. I need to let go of my resentment and change my notions about him so that I can save him.”

Another practitioner and I went to his home. He did not recognize me at first. The practitioner told him who I was, and he then invited us in. He stared at me and said after we sat down, “You look good. That is a surprise to me.”

Indeed, we had not really seen each other for over ten years. The last time, he gave the order to have me handcuffed and taken to the police station. Only when I had been tortured nearly to death did he have an inmate carry me out of the detention center so my family could take me home. I recovered quickly at home. I had run into him several times later but he didn't recognize me.

We first told him the basic facts of the persecution, explaining that all the media reports about the practice were slander and false accusations. We told him that the main thing in cultivating Falun Gong was to be a good person. We encouraged him to ask us any questions he had about it.

We also asked him why he persecuted practitioners. He said he just followed orders. We reminded him that the police who persecuted people during the Cultural Revolution were later executed in secret.

He then told me why he resented me: It was because his upper-level police department fabricated a story and stirred up his hatred toward me. After my explanation, our issues were resolved.

We told him that persecuting Falun Gong was against the law. He said he was following Article 300 of the Criminal Law. We told him persecuting Falun Gong is actually against Article 300, as it violates the Constitution. The perpetrators would soon be scrutinized, so he should covertly protect practitioners.

I examined myself after we got home. I felt that I still had reservations about him, since it was the first time I'd gone to visit him. I was not truly benevolent to him.

Since then, I have thoroughly changed my ideas about him. I discarded my attachments and told him the facts about Falun Gong and urged him to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliates several times. He has agreed that the CCP is thoroughly corrupt.

Actually, other practitioners he once persecuted helped him and his family to quit the CCP. I told him that he must make up for his mistakes. He said he had been doing that. Judging by his actions in some cases, he truly has.

In the lawsuit against Jiang Zemin that we filed with the Supreme Court and the Supreme Procuratorate, we mentioned his name. He said that we'd already sued him, and I told him that he would be a witness for us in the future, that he ought to sue Jiang as well. He said he would do it at some point, because he thought Jiang Zemin was a traitor who sold out our territories to Russia.

Although I did the work in saving this perpetrator, it is because of Teacher's benevolence and the support of practitioners, both domestic and abroad, that this man had a chance to choose his future. That has enabled me to fulfill my mission and my promises while relinquishing my attachments.
