(Minghui.org) I am a Chinese language teacher. I was explaining a sentence to my students one day written by Song Dynasty Statesman Xiu Ouyang: “It is natural that worries and toil can invigorate a nation, while idleness and pleasure can cause a person to lose one's life.”

I understood that “worries and toil can invigorate a nation,” but I couldn't understand why “idleness and pleasure can cause a person to lose one's life.”

I was born in the 1990s. My parents took good care of me, so I had not experienced much hardship. I had always thought that pursuing comfort was natural.

After I started practicing Falun Dafa I learned that pursuing comfort is not good, but because I was not very aware of the attachment of comfort, my cultivation in this regard had been lax.

While studying the Fa one day, a sentence revealed a new layer of meaning to me. Master said,

“With this body, one is made to suffer.” (Zhuan Falun)

I understood that Master wanted me to eliminate the attachment to comfort. While reading the section at the start of the first chapter of Zhuan Falun “Truly Guiding People Toward High Levels,” I gained a better understanding of the attachment.

It was divine beings' compassion that had given human beings another opportunity to suffer and cultivate so that they could return to their homes in Heaven. However, I had already dropped to this lowest level, living in a pile of trash, and I was still pursuing comfort in the pile of trash.

Master said,

“If you are able to return to the origin, then you return. If you cannot return, then you will continue the cycle of reincarnation and destruction.” (Zhuan Falun)

And,

“But you dropped to this level because you became corrupt, so you will not be comfortable. (Zhuan Falun)

Through this I came to understand that people are not supposed to live a comfortable life, but modern society is filled with new things that make people's lives more comfortable. With all kinds of delicious food, smarter phones and dazzling clothing, it is just like what Master said,

“Here and there, demons are everywhere.” (“Tempering One’s Heart and Will”, Hong Yin)

The sewage pipe for my toilet often clogged recently. I had it repaired several times, but it would clog again a short time later. I knew there was a fundamental cause that had not been addressed. While thinking about the pipe, I remembered the attachment of comfort and understood that it was the fundamental attachment in my cultivation practice.

As I became aware of this fundamental attachment, my heart felt light. I decided that I wouldn't keep the attachment of comfort with me any longer!

I checked the toilet again the next day and found that the pipe was clear and functioning well.

Cultivation has so many magnificent outcomes!

The above are my personal understandings. Kindly correct me if there is anything inappropriate.
