Additional Persecution News from China – January 1, 2018 (20 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 8 provinces. According to this report, 11 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 18 were illegally arrested.

1. [Shanghai] Ms. Zhou Meijuan's Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Zhou Meijuan from the Jiading District was arrested by officers from the Anting Police Station on December 28, 2017. Her whereabouts are unknown.

2. [Beijing] Ms. Guo Xiuyun Sentenced to a Five-Year Prison Term

Ms. Guo Xiuyun from Yanluo Village, Bulaotun Town in the Miyun District, was arrested by officers from the Bulaotun Police Station in March 2017. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated a computer, printer, and paper currency with Falun Gong information printed on them.

Ms. Guo was sentenced to five years in prison at the Miyun District Court on December 28, 2017.

3. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhao and Ms. Wang Detained

Ms. Zhao and Ms. Wang were arrested on December 27, 2017, for talking to people about Falun Gong. Both practitioners are being held in the Weizigou Detention Center.

4. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Liu Zhikuan Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Liu Zhikuan, 76, was recently sentenced at the Erdao District Court. She was taken to the Gongzhuling Prison.

5. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Chen Huaxiu and Ms. Yu Xiqing Arrested

Ms. Chen Huaxiu, 75, from Guanghan City, was photographed by police while she was distributing Falun Gong informational calendars on the morning of December 28, 2017. She was taken to a police station, and was released later that day.

Ms. Yu Xiqing, in her eighties, was arrested and taken to the Guanghan Economic Development Zone Police Station on the morning of December 13, 2017, for handing out calendars with Falun Gong content. She was released that afternoon.

6. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Xiong Dinglan Arrested

Ms. Xiong Dinglan from Baosheng Township was arrested and taken to the Yufeng Police Station on the morning of December 28, 2017, for distributing calendars with Falun Gong content.

7. [Tianjin] Three Practitioners Arrested

Officers from the Tianjin City Domestic Security Division, the Wuqing District Domestic Security Division, and the Douzhangzhuang Police Station broke into Ms. Gao Yuming's home on December 28, 2017. They arrested Ms. Gao, Ms. Zhou Houmei, and Ms. Gao Jianling.

Ms. Gao Jianling lost consciousness after being punched by the officers. She was carried to the police vehicle.

The officers ransacked the place and confiscated a computer, printer, DVD burner, cell phone, music player, and over 10,000 yuan.

8. [Tianjin] Ms. Xu Xueli Arrested

Ms. Xu Xueli was arrested by several police officers on December 28, 2017.

9. [Tai'an City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Xiaohuan Detained

Ms. Li Xiaohuan from Liangzhuang Town, High-tech Zone was arrested by officers from the Liangzhuang Police Station on the afternoon of December 5, 2017, for handing out calendars with Falun Gong content in Shanyang Village.

Ms. Li was taken to the Shilihe Detention Center for 15 days of detention.

10. [Jining City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhu Yingqi Sentenced to a Seven-Month Prison Term

Ms. Zhu Yingqi was arrested on July 3, 2017, and sentenced to a seven-month prison term.

11. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Shi Zhihua, Ms. Zhu Aihua, and Ms. Wang Youjun from the Dongshan Residential Community in the Boshan District were arrested by Zhai Shengang, head of the Domestic Security Division, and other officers on the morning of December 28, 2017. Their homes were ransacked.

Ms. Shi was released later that day because she had high blood pressure. Ms. Zhu and Ms. Wang were taken to the Zibo City Women's Detention Center.

12. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Guixiu Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Liu Guixiu, 59, was sentenced to an 18-month prison term by the Huangdao District Court in mid November 2017. She was taken to the Pudong Detention Center on November 16.

13. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Zang Yingshi Arrested

Ms. Zang Yingshi, a Chinese Vietnamese, was arrested in mid December 2017, for distributing Falun Gong materials in Maoming City.

14. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Chen Xi's Whereabouts Unknown

Mr. Chen Xi, an employee at the MCC Southern Engineering Co. Ltd., was arrested on a business trip to Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, in the summer of 2017. His whereabouts are unknown.

15. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Han Fuying and Ms. Wang Changling Detained

Ms. Han Fuying and Ms. Wang Changling from the Guye District were arrested by officers from the Wangdianzi Police Station in Luan County on December 30, 2017, for talking to people about Falun Gong at the Wangdianzi Farmers' Market.

Ms. Han and Ms. Wang were taken to the Luan County Detention Center.

16. [Yingcheng City, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Detained

Three practitioners were transferred from the Hubei Province Legal Education Class to detention centers on December 22, 2017.

Mr. Wang Gangqiang was taken to the Yingcheng City Detention Center.Mr. Xiong Jiwei was taken to the Hanchuan City Detention Center.Mr. Xiong Wende was taken to the Yunmeng County Detention Center.

Ms. Huang Shiqun from the Zhangjiawan Residential Community of the Shuiguohu area was arrested by officers from the Shuiguohu Police Station on the evening of December 26, 2017. She was taken to the Wuhan City No. 1 Detention Center.

18. [Tianjin] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Jiang, an employee at the Hongqiao District Blind Massage Clinic, was arrested on the morning of December 28, 2017. The police ransacked the clinic.

Ms. Dong Xuemei and her husband, from the Chenghuali Residential Community in the Xiqing District were also arrested that day.

19. [Jinchang City, Gansu Province] Ms. Shen Guozhong's Whereabouts Unknown

Mr. Shen Guozhong, an employee at the Jinchang City Power Supply Bureau Information Section, was secretly arrested by officers from the Jinchang Police Department and the Domestic Security Division's 610 Office in early December 2017. His whereabouts are unknown.

20. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Fan Lingxiu Detained

Ms. Fan Lingxiu was arrested and taken to the Daihe Police Station by plainclothes officers on the morning of December 29, 2017, for talking to people about Falun Gong at the Taihe City morning market.

Ms. Fan was taken to the Jinzhou City Detention Center for 15 days of detention.
