Additional Persecution News from China – April 20, 2017 (25 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 20 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 22 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 23 were illegally arrested.

1. [Tianjin] Ms. Li Shuzhi Given Criminal Detention

Ms. Li Shuzhi has been given one month of criminal detention, and is being held at the Nankai District Detention Center.

2. [Chibi City, Hubei Province] Ms. Deng Liming Taken to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Deng Liming was arrested on April 10, 2017, for distributing Falun Gong materials in Chebu Town. The police confiscated her Falun Gong books.

She was taken to the Wuhan City Brainwashing Center.

3. [Linyi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Hu Fanxia Arrested

Ms. Hu Fanxia from Shangyu Village, Gaozhuang Town, was arrested and her home was ransacked by officers from the Gaozhuang Town Police Station on April 18, 2017.

4. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. You Yunsheng and Ms. Li Suzhen Arrested

Mr. You Yunsheng and Ms. Li Suzhen from Shouguang City were arrested at around midday on April 18, 2017.

Guo Hongtang and other officers from the Luocheng Police Station, as well as officers from the Weifang City Domestic Security Division conducted the arrest.

Mr. You and Ms. Li are being held in the Luocheng Police Station.

5. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Xiong Meiying Sentenced to a Three-Year-and-Six-Month Prison Term

Ms. Xiong Meiying was arrested on September 23, 2016, and taken to the Nanchang City No. 1 Detention Center.

Her family received a phone call from the Xinjian District Court informing them that Ms. Xiong had been sentenced to a three-year-and-six-month prison term.

She is still being held in the Nanchang City No. 1 Detention Center.

6. [Beijing] Ms. Xiao Lianhong Taken to Daxing District Women's Prison

Ms. Xiao Lianhong was taken to the Daxing District Women's Prison on April 11, 2017.

7. [Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Wang Shimin Diagnosed With Hemiplegia in Prison

Ms. Wang Shimin, in her sixties, from Beima Village, Beijing Township, Linyi County, suffered from hemiplegia in the Jinzhong Prison.

She was in critical condition and taken to a hospital. On improvement of her health, she was returned to the prison on March 13, 2017.

She is being held in the No. 16 Ward.

8. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Xiaomei's Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Xiaomei was arrested on April 18, 2017. Her whereabouts are unknown.

9. [Beijing] Mr. Wang Xinhua Taken to Brainwashing Center

Mr. Wang Xinhua from the Jiuxianqiao area, Chaoyang District, was arrested on February 6, 2017.

He is being held in the Wangsiying Brainwashing Center.

10. [Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Li Wei and His Wife Ms. Cao Wenying Detained

Mr. Li Wei and his wife Ms. Cao Wenying were arrested on March 9, 2017, for putting up Falun Gong materials on walls. The couple is being held in the Zhongshan City Detention Center.

11. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Cheng Arrested

Mr. Cheng, 50, from Daming County, was arrested on April 17, 2017. His car was confiscated by the police.

Ms. Wang Jinhua from Pingyuan County was arrested by officers from the Dezhou City Police Department on the evening of April 16, 2017, for talking to people about Falun Gong.

13. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Gao Zhen Arrested

Mr. Gao Zhen was arrested and his home was ransacked on April 18, 2017.

14. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Guo Zhihua's Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Guo Zhihua was arrested by officers from the Zhuwang Town Police Station on April 13, 2017, for talking to people about Falun Gong at the Zhuwang Farmers' Market. Her whereabouts are unknown.

15. [Tianjin] Ms. Li Shuzhi and Ms. Ni Hong Detained

Ms. Li Shuzhi and Ms. Ni Hong were arrested by officers from the Nankai District Police Department on the morning of April 17, 2017, for talking to people about Falun Gong at the water park.

They were each given one month of detention and taken to the Nankai District Detention Center.

16. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Ren Guilan Detained

Ms. Ren Guilan from Xuanhua County was reported to the authorities and was beaten by a villager on April 16, 2017, for distributing Falun Gong materials.

She was arrested and taken to the Zhaochuan Town Police Station. She was later taken to the Zhangjiakou City Detention Center.

17. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Chen Yanling's Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Chen Yanling from Huailizhuang Village, Xinji Town, Changli County, was arrested by officers from the Huangdianzhuang Police Station on the afternoon of April 18, 2017. Her whereabouts are unknown.

18. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Hong Yinguang Detained

Mr. Hong Yinguang was arrested at home by officers from the Xinhua Police Station on the evening of April 17, 2017. The officers ransacked his home and confiscated two notebook computers, two printers, Falun Gong books, and other materials.

He is being held in a detention center.

19. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Chen Zhizhen and Ms. Wang Shaoxiang Arrested

Ms. Chen Zhizhen and Ms. Wang Shaoxiang from Zhaoyuan City were reported to the authorities for talking to people about Falun Gong at the Zhangxing Town Farmers' Market on April 16, 2017.

They were arrested and taken to the Lingnan Brainwashing Center by officers from the Zhangxing Town Police Station. Family visits have been denied.

20. [Chongqing] Oven a Dozen Practitioners Taken to Brainwashing Center

Mr. Yang Wenshu was arrested at his home and taken to the Dongcheng Police Station, Jiangjin District, on March 16, 2017. He was first held in the Jiangjin Brainwashing Center for 13 days, then he was held for an additional five days at a later date.

Mr. Li Xingming was arrested on March 18, 2017. He was held in the Jiangjin Brainwashing Center for 13 days. He was charged 1,300 yuan for meals, and 400 yuan for brainwashing study materials.

Ms. Liu Guizhen and Mr. Chen Jihua were held in the Jiangjin Brainwashing Center for ten days and fined 1,400 yuan.

Mr. Wen Qinghua was held in the Jiangjin Brainwashing Center for 14 days and fined 1,800 yuan.

Mr. Deng Zhengrong and four other practitioners were arrested on March 20, 2017.

Mr. Mu Kairong was held in the Degang Brainwashing Center, Jiangjin District, for eight days.

Mr. Zheng Dinghui was detained for ten days, and then taken to a brainwashing center for five days.

Mr. Zhang Fuming was held in the Jiangjin Brainwashing Center for 12 days.

Mr. Feng Zongyu was held in the Jiangjin Brainwashing Center for ten days, then held for an additional 15 days at a later date.

Ms. Xia Fazhi was arrested and taken to the Bolin Brainwashing Center, Jiangjin District, on March 24, 2017.

Mr. Cheng Changxian was detained for 15 days.

Mr. Hu Yuli was held in the Jiangjin Brainwashing Center for two days.

Mr. Ou Changrong was held in the Jiangjin Brainwashing Center for ten days and fined 1,000 yuan.

Mr. Cao Deqing was held in the Jiangjin Brainwashing Center for six days and fined 1,000 yuan.

21. [Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Ye Hua Sentenced to a Fifteen-Month Prison Term

Ms. Ye Hua was arrested by officers from the Fengchenglu Police Station, Beijiao City, for distributing Falun Gong materials on April 20, 2017, and was taken to the Weiyang District Detention Center.

She was tried at the Weiyang District Court on February 24, 2017, and sentenced to a fifteen-month prison term. She has appealed the sentence.

Mr. Tian Benyin, a temporary resident in Changshu City, was arrested and his home was ransacked on April 13, 2017. He is being held in a detention center. Family visits have been denied.

23. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Ha Jianhua Arrested

Mr. Ha Jianhua was arrested by Gu Zhiyong and other officers from the Kuiwen District Domestic Security Division on April 19, 2017.

24. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Haixiang Detained

Mr. Wang Haixiang from Fuping County was apprehended by Yang Jinlong, the Datai Township Center School principal, and others on the morning of March 30, 2017.

He is being held in the Fuping County Detention Center.

Ms. Xue Shouli from the Fularji District was arrested by officers from the Beixing Police Station, Fularji District on April 18, 2017. She was taken to the Qiqihar City Detention Center for 15 days of detention.
