Additional Persecution News from China – March 31, 2017 (19 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 10 provinces. According to this report, 12 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 16 were illegally arrested.

1. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Wang Zhuang Detained

Mr. Wang Zhuang was arrested by Zhang Jialiang and officers from the Xinzhaizi Police Station on June 28, 2016. He was taken to the Yaojia Brainwashing Center on March 1.

While detained at the center, he was forced to stand for seven days, deprived of sleep, and brutally beaten. He was transferred to the Dalian Detention Center on July 22.

2. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Ren Yuqin, Ms. Xiao Huijun, and Ms. Zhan Wenfen were arrested by Wang Shanliang and officers from the Qishuzhuang Police Station on March 27, 2017 for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. They were taken to the police station. The police confiscated Ms. Xiao's car. They were released after officers had extorted 2,000 yuan from each of them. The police refused to return Ms. Xiao's car.

3. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yu Changyan Harassed

Ms. Yu Changyan was harassed by police. She left her home to avoid further persecution.

4. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yu Chunxiang Arrested

Ms. Yu Chunxiang was arrested and taken to the Xianglujiao Police Station on March 27, 2017 for distributing informational materials and talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. The police took her to her home and ransacked it. They confiscated Falun Gong books, pictures of the founder of Falun Gong, computers and printers.

5. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Wang Zhaozhu Arrested

Ms. Wang Zhaozhu was arrested on March 30, 2017 while taking care of her elderly mother, who is in her 90s, at a hospital.

6. [Chongqing] One Practitioner Arrested and Others Harassed

Ms. Ren Xingqun, in her 70s, was arrested by officers from the Pingqiao Police Station on March 14, 2017. She was given a physical examination at a hospital and then taken to the Wanzhou District Detention Center.

Two dozen practitioners were harassed by officers from the local 610 Office in March 2017.

7. [Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Hou Xiaolan Arrested

Ms. Hou Xiaolan was arrested at her daughter's home on March 28, 2017 but managed to escape. The next day, the police ransacked her home, which they recorded on video.

8. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Jia Shoufen Transferred to Prison

Ms. Jia Shoufen's family tried to visit her at Yantai Detention Center on March 30, 2017 but found out that she had been transferred to Jinan Prison on March 16, 2017. When they asked why they had not been notified, they were told that the prison was to inform them after two weeks.

Ms. Jia was arrested on July 21, 2015 for filing a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese Communist Party leader who initiated the persecution of Falun Gong. She was held at the Yantai Detention Center. She was sentenced to a three year prison term by the Yantai High-Tech Industrial Development Zone District Court in September 2016. She appealed, but the Yantai Intermediate Court upheld the original sentence without holding a hearing.

9. [Zhucheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Xu Decai Detained

Ms. Xu Decai was arrested by officers from the Renminlu Police Station on March 21, 2017. She is held in the Dongling Detention Center in Zhucheng.

10. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Persecuted

Mr. Chao Zhiyong was sentenced to a three-year prison term, which was commuted to four years of probation.

Mr. Sun Guangjun was sentenced to a two-year prison term and is held in the Kazuo Detention Center.

Ms. Zhang Yanjie is imprisoned at Shenyang Women's Prison.

11. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Wu Wenhui and Her Sister Arrested

Ms. Wu Wenhui and her sister Ms. Wu Mengxian were arrested on March 25, 2017 for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Ms. Wu Mengxian was released that evening. Her sister is still detained.

12. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Xu Guoying Arrested

Ms. Xu Guoying, 75, was arrested on February 11, 2017 for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong and distributing informational materials about the persecution. She was taken to a police station and released after being interrogated for about an hour.

Two days later, the police ransacked her home and confiscated all Falun Gong books and pictures of the founder of Falun Gong. Her identification card and residence book were also confiscated.

13. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Che Pingping Imprisoned

Ms. Che Pingping's family was denied from visiting her at Jilin Women's Prison on March 27, 2017. They later learned that she had been held in an isolation cell since March 24.

14. [Yuhuan County, Zhejiang Province] Five Practitioners Detained

Mr. Liang Xiangyong and his wife Ms. Wang Yaohua were arrested in August 2016. The police ransacked their home and confiscated Falun Gong books and pictures of the founder of Falun Gong.

Ms. Zhang Suzhi, Ms. Su Shuying, and Mr. Su Jinbing were also arrested.

Mr. Liang Xiangyong was given one year of house arrest. Ms. Xhang was released. All others are held at the Yuhuan County Detention Center.

15. [Yuhuan County, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Lin Yihua Detained

Ms. Lin Yihua was arrested by local police officers in August 2016. She is held in the Yuhuan Detention Center. Her case was submitted to the Yuhuan Court for trial by the Yuhuan Procuratorate.

16. [Urumqi, Xinjiang] Ms. Wang Xiumei Detained

Ms. Wang Xiumei was arrested several days ago and was taken to the Urumqi City No. 3 Detention Center.

17. [Jingjiang City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Chen Qingling's Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Chen Qingling was arrested on March 29, 2017 for distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. Her whereabouts are unknown.

18. [Haixi, Qinghai] Ms. Kang Jinying and Ms. Zuo Aifeng Arrested

Ms. Kang Jinying, in her 60s, and Ms. Zuo Aifeng, 57, were arrested and taken to a police station by Wang Jianping, captain of the Domestic Security Division. Ms. Zuo's home was ransacked by Wang and two community officers that evening.

19. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Wenchen Detained

Mr. Wang Wenchen was arrested by officers from the Mutoudeng Town Police Station on March 29, 2017. The police ransacked his home and confiscated hundreds of yuan in paper currency with messages about Falun Gong printed on them. They also confiscated Falun Gong books, several volumes of Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, informational materials about Falun Gong, and a satellite dish for receiving NTDTV programs. He was taken to the Qinglong County Detention Center.
