Police Attempt to Charge Couple for Their Belief After Court Twice Dismisses the Case
(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Lin Yongxu has been arrested four times for his faith. He’s been brutally tortured in forced labor camps, and been incarcerated a total of seven years during the past 18-year persecution of Falun Gong. Both he and his wife are now being detained, after the court has dismissed their case twice. The police, in violation of the law, have sent their case to the Procuratorate for a third time.
Mr. Lin Yongxu's most recent arrest took place on May 20, 2017. He was arrested at his home in Zhuhai City, along with 17 other practitioners, including his wife Ms. Li Sujuan.
Seven days after the arrest, the prosecutor at the Xiangzhou District Procuratorate retracted the indictment. The couple’s families paid a total of 6,000 yuan in bail on June 27 so that they could be released awaiting trial. The police not only provided no receipt, but sent the couple to the Sanshui Brainwashing Center the very next day.
The couple was transferred to Zhuhai 1st Detention Center on July 21, as they were officially declared under arrest, and their case was sent to the court. By late October the court had twice returned the case to the police, citing insufficient evidence. The police were required to release the two according to Chinese law. However the couple remained detained as the police sent out the case for trial a third time.
