(Minghui.org) The government in Taikang County, Zhoukou City has continued to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Below are some cases that have occurred this year.
Ms. Ren Xiufang and Ms. Ou Meiju Sentenced
Ms. Ren Xiufang and her daughter Ms. Ou Meiju were talking to people about Falun Gong when they were arrested by officers from the Machang Township Police Station in November 2016. They were tried by the Taikang County Court on May 25, 2017, and were each sentenced to three and half years in prison.
Ms. Ren and her daughter both appealed. Their lawyer also went to the Zhoukou City Intermediate Court and requested a retrial. But, at the end of August 2017, the court dismissed their requests and upheld the verdict from the first trial.
Ms. Ren and Ms. Ou are currently being held at the Henan Province Women's Prison in Xinxiang.
Mr. Zhou Zhengfa and Mr. Yue Hengyu Sentenced
When Mr. Zhou Zhengfa, Mr. Zhou Chengzhi, Mr. Yu Hengyu and Ms. Zhao Jinglan distributed informational materials about Falun Gong in the countryside on January 8, 2017, someone reported them. They were arrested in Taikang County by officers from the Laozhong Police Station.
They were tried by the Taikang County Court on May 25. The judges disregarded the legally valid defense their lawyer presented and sentenced both Mr. Zhou Zhengfa and Mr. Yue Hengyu to three and half years in prison, and Mr. Zhou Chenzhi and Ms. Zhao to six-months each. Mr. Zhou Chenzhi and Ms. Zhao were released.
Mr. Zhou Zhengfa and Mr. Yue appealed, but their appeals were denied. They have been imprisoned in Zhengzhou Prison in Xinmi City.
Mr. Ye Hui Sentenced to 14 Months
Mr. Ye Hui was arrested by officers from the Jianshelu Police Station in Taikang County in mid-January of 2017. He sued the police who arrested him. The police and procurator retaliated and strengthened their persecution against him. He was sentenced to 14 months in prison.
He appealed the sentence and was denied. He is imprisoned in Zhengzhou Prison in Xinmi City.
Other Practitioners Persecuted
Domestic security officers in Taikang County and officers from the Fucaolou Police Station arrested Ms. Zhou Yufen and Mr. Xie Dongxian. Ms. Zhou is detained in the Zhoukou City Detention Center, and Mr. Xie is detained in the Taikang County Detention Center.
Officers from the Zhukou Police Station in Taikang County arrested Ms. Li Qiuling and Mr. Fei Wenjie on November 1, 2017. Ms. Li has a ten-month-old baby who needed her care. She was beaten by the police. They took her to the City Detention Center after taking a blood sample from her and having her go through a physical examination.
The neighbors were upset with the way the police disregarded Ms. Li and her crying baby's situation. Many people helped, and she was released after being detained for 52 hours.
Mr. Fei was badly beaten on the day of his arrest. They took a blood sample from him and did many tests.
Police from the Machang Police Station in Taikang County arrested Mr. Li Yangzhong and Mr. Chen Xuelin in May 2017. They are both over seventy-years-old. They were detained in the Taikang Detention Center and later released.
