(Minghui.org) I had congenital bronchitis since I was a little girl. When it flared up, I couldn't even cook. Because there was a lot of farm work to do, my mother-in-law was very fond of my husband's brothers because they could help. I was envious. I sulked frequently, and my bronchitis turned into asthma. I had to take medicine to alleviate the pain. My life seemed like a living hell.
My ailments disappeared after I started practicing Falun Dafa in 1999. I strived to do everything according to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and I learned to look at situations from other peoples’ perspectives. It was Dafa that resolved the conflicts and misunderstandings between my mother-in-law and me. Although she doesn't practice Falun Dafa, she has told people she meets that I have changed a lot since I started practicing, and she understands that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been unjustly persecuting Falun Dafa.
Distributing Falun Dafa Printing Materials at the Peak of the CCP Persecution
The CCP started the persecution of Falun Dafa started shortly after I had started practicing and had realized how wonderful Dafa is. Although I didn't have a deep understanding of Fa principles, I knew that Dafa was the most righteous path and the one that I needed most in my life. It was Master who had changed me for the better and taught me the real purpose of life. With this thought, I talked to people around me about the beauty of Falun Dafa. However, as the CCP escalated the persecution, people were more misled and it became even harder for them to understand the truth about Falun Dafa.
Because of the rampant oppression and difficult economic circumstances, there were few sources for truth-clarification materials. Sometimes, practitioners from far away brought a copy of Master's new articles and a few copies of informational materials. I hand-copied them using carbon paper to make several copies of each, which I distributed to practitioners near me.
There were only a few practitioners in our area, and we all followed Master’s teachings and cooperated well. We tried our best to look for other practitioners to give them Master's new teachings and the informational materials.
I then met a practitioner who prepared materials and could supply us. We were filled with joy, as if we had found a long-lost family member. We were able to do a much better job of spreading the truth about Falun Dafa and why the CCP was persecuting the practice. We later set up our own material production site.
An Unforgettable Experience
Probably each Dafa practitioner has an experience that stands out in his or her mind. This is mine: Our truth-clarifying material production site was attacked in April 2006. The three local practitioners who made the materials were arrested at the same time. I had already taken on the responsibility for distributing materials in a few districts—what would I do without materials? I had never participated in producing the materials and knew nothing about it. The only choice I had was to discuss the problem with a practitioner in another region. He said he could provide me a draft that I could reproduce, and I agreed.
At that time, we were very poor. We had three children to support and my husband was the only wage-earner. Although other practitioners contributed funds, we could only afford to buy a copier. I asked a practitioner's daughter to help me buy a copier in the city.
We were waiting for a bus at a bus station. I didn't see her board, and the bus left. I didn't have a cell phone, and I had never traveled far from home. As a woman from a rural area, it was hard for me to imagine going to a city by myself, not to mention buying a machine that I had no experience with.
I asked Master from my heart, “It is your disciple's responsibility. I must go. Please let us meet when we change buses.”
I waited anxiously for the next bus to our destination. When I got off, I saw her there. I thanked Master. She said, “I thought you wouldn't come.”
“How could I not come?” I replied. “It's me who asked you for help, and I'm sorry that I made you worry.”
Based on our steadfast faith in Master, we bought the machine and other supplies; everything went smoothly.
It was hard for me to produce truth-clarification materials; I was a woman from a rural area without much knowledge. However, as long as you are determined, Master is with you.
When I started to produce materials, the young woman who had traveled with me, my son, and my daughter helped me. When the young woman left, my son helped me more. Production was very slow. My son, my daughter, and I took turns eating and working the copy machine. We worked until very late at night. My husband also helped me distribute materials—he was never late giving out Minghui Weekly and other materials—they were all distributed to fellow practitioners on time.
If It Is Needed for Fa Rectification, You Can Learn the Skills
We continued to produce materials with just the copier. A local practitioner then escaped from a detention center with strong, righteous thoughts. She suggested I buy a computer, but I said that I did not know how to use one, and I didn't have much money to buy it. She said she could help.
“You just returned from detention,” I said. “All your possessions were confiscated. If I need it, I will buy it on my own.” A few days later, she helped me purchase a computer and a laser printer. I gave her all the money that other practitioners had given me for producing materials, although it was not enough to pay for these two items.
We bought the computer, but we still had problems: I had little education and had much farm work to do. It was not easy to learn to use the computer without a practitioner nearby who had computer skills. My two children were away at school and came home only once a week.
I usually forgot what I had just learned. It was easier when my children were at home, but it was difficult for me when they went back to school. They helped by writing step-by-step procedures for me.
After many attempts and errors, I was able to produce materials on my own. At that time, my cultivation state was very good, and I continued to upgrade my xinxing. I looked inward at every moment to see if my thoughts and actions were in accordance with the Fa.
Fellow Practitioners' Issues Are My Issues
A married couple who practiced were arrested, and their two daughters were left on their own. My husband and I visited them often and considered their issues as our own. Whenever there was something that needed to be done at their farm, we would do it.
That fall, my husband and I asked other practitioners to help harvest the corn at that farm. When we arrived with four other practitioners, the daughters said, “Thank you for your help. But according to the weather forecast, a storm is coming. Will you still be able to harvest the corn?”
“Yes. We are one body: fellow practitioners' issues are our issues,” I replied. “Everything is protected by Master. It will not rain until we finish harvesting the corn.” We harvested the crop, cleaned it, and then returned home. As soon as we arrived, there was a big storm. I was very touched and said with tears in my eyes, “Thank you, Master. We handled this correctly.”
I Must Cultivate as I Did Back Then
I recall those hard times and remember that, even when it was the most difficult, I could diligently follow Master's requirements.
The persecution is less severe now, however, and I have slacked off. I am worried about this and am looking within. That helps for a while, but then I slack off again. I recently shared this with fellow practitioners and realized that I have attachments to my children and profit.
Superficially, it appeared that I had let go of these attachments. Actually, when I face these issues, these attachments surface.
Since I have found these problems, I am determined to get rid of these attachments. I can't let Master down. Master has mentioned several times in recent years, “always cultivating as if you were just starting” (Fa Teaching at the 2009 Greater New York International Fa Conference). As long as we cultivate as if we were just starting, and closely follow Master's Fa rectification, we can fulfill our mission and return to our true home.
