Additional Persecution News from China – January 11, 2017 (16 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 7 provinces. According to this report, 16 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 13 were illegally arrested.

1. [Shanghai] Ms. Bai Gendi Taken to Rehabilitation Hospital; Still Comatose

Ms. Bai Gendi was held in the Shanghai Women's Prison for three years. She was in critical condition. She was taken back to the No. 6 People's Hospital on December 29, 2016. She could not eat, and had to be given liquid food infusions. She was mentally confused. Sometimes she was able to recognize people close to her, and sometimes not. After she slipped into a coma on January 3, 2017, she was transferred to the Rehabilitation Hospital.

2. [Xining City, Qinghai Province] Ms. Li Guixiang Detained

Ms. Li Guixiang was arrested by officers from the Chengbei Police Department. She was transferred to the Ershilipu Detention Center after being held in custody for 15 days.

3. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Four Practitioners Detained

Ms. Han Guangzhi, Mr. Li Guochen, Ms. Li Fengshuang, and Mr. Zhang Hongning were reported for telling people about Falun Gong in Zhili Village, Xinzhuang Township on the morning of January 9, 2017. They were arrested by officers from the Xinzhuang Police Station. Officers took them to the Yushu City Detention Center, and planned to hold them there for five days of detention.

4. [Lixin County, Anhui Province] Four Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

Four practitioners were recently tried at the Lixin County Court. Mr. Liu Wenju and Mr. Zhang Mingquan were each sentenced to three years in prison. Mr. Zhang Yajun was sentenced to four years in prison and Ms. Wu Ling to four and a half years in prison.

5. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Mr. Zhao Benzhong's Home Ransacked

Zhang Hong, the head of the Luyang District Domestic Security Division, and other officers broke into Mr. Zhao Benzhong's home and ransacked it. They confiscated a computer, a printer, Falun Gong books, and other personal belongings. They attempted to arrest Mr. Zhao, an engineer at the Coal Design Institute, but did not succeed.

6. [Tianjin] Ms. Xu Haihong Arrested

Ms. Xu Haihong, in her 50s, was arrested last week.

7. [Tianjin] Ms. Yang Chunyan and Ms. Sun Yunxiang Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Yang Chunyan was sentenced to three and a half years in prison by the Dongli District Court. Her mother Ms. Sun Yunxiang was sentenced to three years in prison. Both of them are still being held in the Dongli Detention Center.

8. [Rongcheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Cai Ling Taken to Shandong Women's Prison

Ms. Cai Ling was arrested on February 17, 2016. She was sentenced to two years in prison after being detained for seven months. She was taken to the Shandong Women's Prison.

9. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Six Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Zhang Yulan and five other practitioners were arrested by officers from the Jiashihe Township Police Station on the morning of January 9, 2017 for talking to people about Falun Gong. A female practitioner was severely beaten by Liu, an officer from the Domestic Security Division.

One practitioner was given a 10-day detention and held at the Shisanli Detention Center. The other five practitioners were released.

10. [Hengshui City, Hebei Province] Mr. Guo Xiaoping Detained

Mr. Guo Xiaoping is held in the Hengshui Detention Center.

11. [Xinxiang City, Henan Province] Ms. Wang Fengyun Arrested

Ms. Wang Fengyun left home to avoid the persecution over two years ago. She was arrested by officers from the Huayuan Police Station and the Weibei Police Station at noon on January 10, 2017.

12. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Ms. Zhang Lina Harassed

Ma Shujun and other officers from the Shangjie District Domestic Security Division broke into Ms. Zhang Lina's home on the morning of January 8, 2017. They coerced her to write a guarantee statement that she would not file any lawsuit against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the communist regime, who initiated the persecution of Falun Gong, and she would not distribute Falun Gong materials. They forcibly took her photo, phone numbers, and ID card.

13. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Geng Ren'e Setenced to Prison

Ms. Geng Ren'e was sentenced to four years in prison.

14. [Benxi County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Lin Hong Arrested

Ms. Lin Hong was arrested at home by officers from the Qinghecheng Town Police Station on January 5, 2017.

15. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Guiqin Detained

Ms. Zhang Guiqin was arrested on January 9, 2017 for telling people about Falun Gong. She was held in the police station for 10 days of detention. She was transferred to the Jinjiajie Detention Center on January 10.

16. [Dashiqiao City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Guixiang Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Wang Guixiang from Gaizhou City was sentenced to one year and six months in prison and fined 3,000 yuan by the Dashiqiao City Court.
