(Minghui.org) Ms. Hou Jialing was tried by Qi County Court in Henan Province on July 27, 2016. She was charged with “using a cult organization to undermine law enforcement”–a common charge used by the Chinese Communist Party to imprison practitioners in its persecution of the spiritual practice.

Her attorney pleaded not guilty on her behalf and argued that the persecution of Falun Gong has no legal basis.

Ms. Hou testified, “It is a good thing to talk to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. As a Chinese citizen, I exercised my legal right to file a criminal complaint against [former Chinese Communist Party leader] Jiang Zemin for initiating the persecution, in order to safeguard the dignity of law and uphold justice. I have broken no laws by practicing Falun Gong.”

Ms. Hou was arrested by officers from the Qi County Domestic Security Division on April 27, 2016. The police ransacked her home twice and confiscated a printer, two computers, and 1,000 yuan in cash. She was taken to the Kaifeng City Detention Center that evening. The Qi County Procuratorate approved her arrest on May 11.
