(Minghui.org) A Qiqihar resident was reduced to skin and bones within three months of her arrest for distributing Chinese New Year calendars bearing messages about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
Ms. Qu Shurong's lawyer met with her on February 19 at Qiqihar City First Detention Center and reported that she complained about the ill treatments there. She was not allowed to use the restroom and pushed around by the head of her cell. The guards, however, did nothing to stop her tormentors.
Ms. Qu was arrested on November 8 of last year after being reported for passing out Falun Gong materials in Xinhua residential area of Longsha District.
Her daughter was arrested that evening when she went to the police station to request her mother's release. The younger woman wasn't released until officers Lin Kai and Liu Yang had interrogated her for over 3 hours.
While the daughter was being questioned, policeman Yi Qicai went to ransack Ms. Qu's apartment. No one was home at the time, and the police broke into the apartment and turned the place upside down. They even arrested three other female Falun Gong practitioners who happened to be outside of the apartment building.
Ms. Qu's daughter returned to the police station the next day to seek her mother's release. Three policemen got her in a car and drove to her apartment complex. As she refused to disclose her exact address, the police beat her up inside one building.
The police eventually found her apartment, but they didn't find anything they wanted. After threatening her husband, they took her back to the police station, where they kept her in a basement room for one day. They extorted 2,000 yuan from her family and released her at 5 p.m. on November 10.
The next day Ms. Qu was transferred to the detention center, where she remains today.
