(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 4 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 26 were illegally arrested. Several practitioners seeking to mail letters of complaint regarding Jiang Zemin to the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Supreme Court have met with obstacles.

1. [Laiyang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Baoquan Arrested
Mr. Liu Baoquan was arrested and his home was ransacked by the police on December 21, 2015.
2. [Ziyang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhang Lianying Detained
Ms. Zhang Lianying was arrested and taken to the Ziyang City Detention Center by officers from the Chengbei Police Station on December 18, 2015, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.
3. [Laiyang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liang Shaobo and Ms. Ma Shuying Arrested
Mr. Liang Shaobo and his wife Ms. Ma Shuying were arrested and taken to the Longmen Police Station by officers from the Laiyang City 610 Office and Longmen Police Station on December 21, 2015, for suing Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese dictator.
4. [Bin County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wei Yafen Arrested
Ms. Wei Yafen was arrested and taken to Harbin City on December 18, 2015, for suing Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese dictator.
5. [Laiyang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yao Yun'e Arrested
Ms. Yao Yun'e was arrested by Zhang Lei, director, and officers from the Bailinzhuang Town Police Station on December 21, 2015.
6. [Chongqing] Mr. Deng Boshou Detained
Mr. Deng Boshou was arrested and taken to the Qianzhugou Brainwashing Center on December 19, 2015. He is detained in the Fusheng Detention Center in the Jiangbei District.
7. [Wuan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Caifang Detained
Ms. Li Caifang was arrested by Yicheng Town Police Station officers on December 20, 2015. She is detained in the Wuan Detention Center.
8. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Xiangying and Ms. Bai Lihong Detained
Ms. Zhang Xiangying, her daughter, and Ms. Bai Lihong were arrested at Ms. Zhang's home on November 23, 2015. Ms. Zhang's daughter was released. Ms. Zhang and Ms. Bai are being held in a detention center.
9. [Hailin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Chu Xiuling and Ms. Yuan Shurong Detained
Ms. Chu Xiuling and Ms. Yuan Shurong were recently arrested by Li Dongxian and other police officers for distributing calendars with information about the persecution of Falun Gong. They were detained in the Hailin Detention Center for 15 days.

10. [Beijing] Three Practitioners Sentenced
Mr. Wang Jianfu, Ms. Jia Fengzhi, and Mr. Ma Zhanquan were sentenced in the Pinggu Court on November 21, 2015.
Mr. Wang was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in prison. He was sentenced to an eight-year prison term in 2002 and released in 2009.
Ms. Jia and Mr. Ma were each sentenced to two years in prison. They appealed to the Beijing No. 3 Intermediate Court.

11. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Mr. Zhu Yujun Sentenced
Mr. Zhu Yujun, a former prosecutor, was recently sentenced to a five-year term for practicing Falun Gong.
He is from Shulan City and was arrested in Jilin City on October 18, 2013. He was tried in Chuanying District Court on September 7, 2015. The verdict was announced several months later. He was transferred to Jilin Prison on December 10, 2015.
12. [Tianjin] Mr. Lai Haibin Tried
Mr. Lai Haibin was tried on December 15 for filing a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin.
The 49-year-old from Tianjin was twice sentenced in the past for practicing Falun Gong. He holds Jiang responsible for his 8 years in prison.
The police arrested him on September 2, 2015. His lawyers pleaded not guilty and demanded his acquittal during the December trial. The judge called for an adjournment without handing down a verdict.
13. [Beijing] Three Practitioners Sentenced
Three local Beijing residents filed an appeal. They were sentenced for distributing calendars bearing messages about the persecution of Falun Gong.
Mr. Wang Jianfu fell ill shortly after he was sentenced to 7.5 years in November, 2015. He was transferred to the Beijing Police Hospital and was denied family visits. His lawyer was able to see him on December 16, 2015, and noted that he appeared very weak and depressed.
Mr. Ma Zhanquan and Ms. Jia Fengzhi were each sentenced to 2 years.
Mr. Ma's lawyer learned that Mr. Ma tried to mail a criminal complaint letter against Jiang Zemin, but the police confiscated it.
14. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia] Ms. Bi Fengqin Arrested
Ms. Bi Fengqin was arrested two weeks after she had a discussion with Xu Guofeng, head of the Songshan District Police Department Domestic Security Office.
Xu arrested five local Falun Gong practitioners in July 2015, and Ms. Bi urged him to release the four still detained.
Xu seemed receptive during the two-hour conversation with Ms. Bi, only to take her into custody two weeks later.
15. [Tumen City, Jilin Province] Four Practitioners Arrested
Ms. Zhai Jinghua and her husband Mr. Yin Gang were arrested when visiting Ms. Zhai's mother on December 16, 2015. Her younger sister, who does not practice Falun Gong, was also arrested and detained for one night.
Mr. Xu Jinyou was arrested at home on December 16, 2015. His wife and son, both disabled, asked for his release, but officials denied their request.
Mr. Yu Jinmin did not return home on December 16, 2015, and his family learned later that he had been arrested.
Ms. Chi Suling was arrested on December 17, 2015.
All four practitioners are being held in the Anshan Detention Center.
16. [Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province] Mr. Chen Mingan Tried
The Changan District Court tried Mr. Chen Mingan on December 11, 2015.
Two attorneys questioned the evidence presented by the public prosecutor. Judge Yao Huapeng announced an adjournment and declared that the sentence would be decided on another day.
Besides the above, officers from the Xi'an 610 Office and Domestic Security Division broke into many practitioners' homes and harassed them, threatening them not to attend the hearing.
Mr. Chen filed a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin at the beginning of June 2015. He was arrested outside his home on the night of July 21. The Changan District Procuratorate approved the arrest on August 25. Mr. Chen's case was submitted to the Procuratorate on September 29. His family and attorneys were not notified. His case was transferred to the court on October 24.
17. [Chenzhou City, Hunan Province] Ms. Li Jumei Tried
The Jiehe County Court held a second hearing in the trial of Ms. Li Jumei on December 11, and her two lawyers pleaded not guilty on her behalf.
Mr. Zhang Chuanli, one of her lawyers, reiterated that she broke no law by possessing and spreading information about Falun Gong. He stated that there has never been any law that criminalizes the practice, which means the persecution of Falun Gong is illegal.
Mr. Zhang emphasized that his client caused no harm to any individual or society by exercising her constitutional right to believe in Falun Gong and share its benefits.
Ms. Li also testified how she was arrested repeatedly for practicing Falun Gong, which healed her bone cancer and gave her a second life.
Mr. Hu Dongsheng, the other lawyer, said that the evidence presented by the prosecutor violated existing procedures, especially when it came to the police search warrant, interrogation records, and validation certificate. He concluded that the prosecution evidence should be dismissed.
Both lawyers demanded acquittal of their client. The judge adjourned the session without issuing a verdict.
18. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Two Practitioners Sentenced
In Lulong Court Mr. Dai Zhongmin was senteced to seven years in prison and Ms. Zheng Yanhua to three years on December 14, 2015. Court officials commented that they were charged with closing all their cases before the end of the year.
19. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Hu Guojian Sentenced to Four Years in Prison
Mr. Hu Guojian's family received a notification from judge Liu Hui of the Dongzhou District Court on December 9, 2015, that Mr. Hu had been sentenced to four years in prison.
The family tried to file an appeal, but no attorney would accepted the case. Mr. Hu's family could not submit the appeal. Mr. Hu is still in the Fushun No. 1 Detention Center.
