(Minghui.org) My mother is 82 years old and had a very bad temper for as long as I can remember. She behaved as if the whole world owed her. In her eyes, there wasn't even one good person in the world, including my father, who looked after her and was there for her throughout his entire life.
She never thought of the needs of others or how her actions affected them, and she complained constantly in her old age, harshly accusing everyone of treating her poorly. None of my siblings wanted to visit her unless they had to. The relationship between her and my sisters and brothers was very bad.
My brothers and sisters have full time jobs, so we hired a caregiver to look after our mother. It was very hard to find someone willing to look after her. Even though we paid a much higher salary, it was still very difficult to keep the caregiver.
I visited my mother frequently and sometimes read Zhuan Falun, the main book of Dafa, to her. Although she did not accept Dafa, she knew how much my behavior had improved after I started practicing. I took care of her, even when she treated me badly. She was not against Dafa and knows that the Chinese Communist Party is very corrupt, so she withdrew her membership from the Party.
During the long weekend of the Mayday holiday, I took my mother to my home. As usual, she talked about all her grudges. I read two sections from Zhuan Falun, “Loss and Gain” and “Transformation of Karma.”
She asked me, “Is that what Mr. Li Hongzhi said? And you call him Master?” “Yes,” I replied, “we all call him Master.”
She continued, “Dafa is good. The principles are so profound. I understand it now. What I thought and did was wrong and made my children stay away from me. It was my mistake. Your choice is correct.”
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. My mother had never admitted that she was ever in the wrong.
She phoned my sisters and brothers and apologized to them. She said, “It is Falun Dafa that will make my family a happy one. I've regained my children. Thank you, Master!”
She then wanted to listen to Mr. Li's lectures, so I gave her my MP3 player.
Her caregiver was so amazed when she saw the change in my mother's behavior. She said, “Falun Dafa is amazing!” She said, “Such a stubborn old lady changed within a few days. I will listen to what your master says when I have time.”
