(Minghui.org) Seven Falun Dafa practitioners in Tonghua County, Jilin Province, were arrested and detained for mailing criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin, the former Communist Party leader.
One of the practitioners hired a lawyer and is preparing to file a lawsuit against the police for violating civil rights.
Arrested at the Post Office
Mr. Zhang Fuchun, Ms. Guo Qingfeng, Ms. Yan Guangling, Mr. Zhang Guoyou, Ms. Wang Cuilian, Ms. Deng Yuqing, and Ms. Sun Xiuzhen were arrested while mailing their complaints against Jiang in the Sankeyushu Township Post Office on June 26, 2015.
Officers illegally detained the practitioners for 24 hours at the Sanyu Police Station before transferring them to the Tonghua Detention Center.
Extortion
The Tonghua Police Department extorted 10,000 yuan each from Ms. Guo, Ms. Wang, and Ms. Sun. They were released one week later.
The other four practitioners are still detained in Tonghua Detention Center.
Civil Rights Violation
Ms. Deng's lawyer asked for the case to be dismissed, citing Article 41 of the Chinese Constitution.
In Article 41, citizens of the People's Republic of China have the right to criticize and make suggestions regarding any state organ or functionary. Citizens have the right to make to relevant state organs complaints or charges against, or exposures of, any state organ or functionary for violation of the law or dereliction of duty.
The lawyer said he will file a lawsuit for civil rights violation against the police department if his client is not released.
Background
In 1999 Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Dafa.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Dafa practitioners over the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the 610 Office, on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Dafa: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising the right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
