(Minghui.org) Mr. Shi Yanwei is a Falun Gong practitioner from Xilinhot City, Inner Mongolia. He was arrested by local domestic security police on December 10, 2012 and was sentenced to four years imprisonment.
After Mr. Shi was illegally arrested his family members requested repeatedly that the Xilinhot City Police Department release him. The police threatened the family.
The family asked the Xilinhot City Procuratorate to show them the legal evidence for the arrest. But the procuratorate was unable to do so.
The Xilinhot City Procuratorate took Mr. Shi to court on April 2, 2013. Mr. Shi's family hired an attorney from Beijing.
The Xilinhot City Court held the trial against Mr. Shi on April 22, 2013. Mr. Shi's attorney pleaded not guilty and provided the evidence to support this plea. The trial was adjourned.
Mr. Shi's family members sued the Xilinhot City Police Department on May 13, 2013. However the case was thrown out of court by the Chinese Communist Party officials. The court illegally sentenced Mr. Shi to four years of imprisonment without any evidence of illegal activities. Mr. Shi appealed to the Xilinguole League Middle Court.
The Xilinhot City Middle Court held the hearing at 3 p.m. on August 28, 2013. The court was heavily guarded by police from two police stations. Mr. Shi's relatives and friends were not allowed to attend the court session.
Mr. Shi defended himself, told the facts about Falun Gong and refuted all accusations. His attorney demanded that the prosecutor show evidence of wrongdoing.
The attorney stated that there was no case because there was no evidence from the prosecutor to support any of the accusations. The judge adjourned the court session.
Mr. Shi's wife went to the detention center to visit him on November 30, 2013. However, she was told that Mr. Shi had been transferred to the Xilinhot City Prison.
The family was not allowed to see him. When they returned to the prison in December they were told that Mr. Shi was transferred to the Huhehaote City Second Prison.
Mr. Shi's family, because the entire family practices Falun Gong, suffered greatly because of the Chinese Communist regimes persecution of Falun Gong. Mr. Shi was arrested and detained many times. He was sentenced to two years of forced labor. His wife and young son are destitute. His parents died because of the persecution. His sister was sentenced to forced labor.
