(Minghui.org) My wife and I started practicing Falun Dafa in August 1996. After 18 years, we have come to realize from personal experience that being good Falun Dafa practitioners is the most effectively way to help people understand it.
Son and Daughter-in-law Started Practicing
In our home, we always bear in mind we are cultivators so that family members can see for themselves the goodness of Falun Dafa.
My wife is the most hard-working person I know. She is over 70 years old, yet she takes care of household chores just like a young person. When our son and his wife come for visits, my wife will do all the cooking.
I myself am nearly 80 years old, but I’m not idle either. I’ll also do whatever I can.
We often talk to our son and daughter-in-law about Falun Dafa.
Our daughter-in-law always says to her family, "You should never listen to what’s on television. They tell us that Falun Dafa people spend their time doing nothing but practice, that they don’t care about families or friendship or anything else. These are all rumors, all lies. My mother-in-law and father-in-law are nothing like what they describe on TV.”
My son and daughter-in-law soon began to practice Falun Dafa also.
"The difference is truly night and day"
My wife and I always pay attention to how we behave in the community so as to project the proper image befitting Dafa practitioners.
We frequently sweep the corridors and the streets around our building of dirt and debris. In winter, we will get out early to shovel any fallen snow accumulated overnight.
We once noticed glass shattered all over the street after a two-car accident. So, we went home to get a broom and cleaned up every fragment of glass. Passing drivers and pedestrians all thanked us. News of what we did quickly spread throughout our neighborhood.
Every time our community requests donations from residents for disaster areas, my wife and I are always very enthusiastic. We will pick the best clothes and other goods to donate.
Afterwards, a list of every donation will be posted in the community. Residents will check the posting and remark, "So and so has a high-level position with good wages but is so stingy. Look at these people who practice Falun Dafa. They give the most money and the things they donate are the best. The difference is truly night and day!"
Not Believing the Party and Receiving Blessings
Since the former dictator Jiang and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched the persecution against Falun Dafa, creating an atmosphere of absolute terror, most residents in our community did not dare to come near us. However, there were quite a few exceptions.
Ms. Li who lives one floor above us was one of them. She has refused to believe in the CCP propaganda and has initiated contact with us.
We helped her understand Falun Dafa and renounce the CCP and its affiliated organizations. We taught them to recite the nine golden words: "Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good", and they all accepted it.
They also became a good resource of praising Falun Dafa and that it is good everywhere they go.
Ms. Li recites the nine golden words every single day and often speaks up for Dafa and Dafa practitioners. She was blessed with the disappearance of all her illnesses, and she is very healthy.
Ms. Li's husband became very ill three years ago and needed treatment in the provincial capital. They didn’t have any money, so Ms. Li tried to borrow some but was unsuccessful. She finally came to us. My wife and I immediately loaned her 20,000 yuan.
Ms. Li was moved to tears. She said to us, "This money will save my husband's life! Thank you so very much."
"I’ve come to the conclusion that Falun Dafa is good."
In our community, there is a man we all call Young A around 40, who is known for his filial piety. He frequently takes his mother out for walks.
Young A volunteered to take Ms. Li’s husband to the provincial capital but refused to take any money or reward for his effort.
Early last May, he suddenly came to our house and said, "I’ve been watching Falun Dafa practitioners in our community for more than a decade. You two really live like Dafa practitioners. and you are truly in a higher realm. The CCP TV broadcasts are all fabrications, just like the Tiananmen self-immolation. They’re all made up to frame Falun Dafa. After 10 years of careful observation and analysis, and reading the Falun Dafa materials you leave in the corridors of our building, I’ve come to the conclusion that Falun Dafa is good. Falun Dafa practitioners are truly better than good people."
After his kind remarks, we further helped him understand Dafa. We also helped him and his family to renounce the CCP and he withdraw from all its affiliated organizations.
He came to our house two weeks later to tell us his aunt was sick and had to go to the hospital but his family has difficulty raising money. He asked if we could help him out.
We immediately loaned him some money. After that, he came back five more times and ended up borrowing a total of more than 20,000 yuan.
After his aunt died, the money was needed for her funeral. His uncle and one of his uncle’s relatives then got sick one after the other.
Young A was extremely anxious that he couldn’t immediately pay us back the money he borrowed.
My wife and I said to him, "Don’t worry that you can’t pay back the money now. The money is being used for something good and necessary. So, don’t trouble yourself too much over this."
Later on it was his own family that needed some financial assistance. We immediately lent him 3,000 yuan.
He became very emotional and remarked with a sigh, "In this day and age, only Dafa practitioners can be so generous and helpful, when nobody else will give a care!"
"I’ve finally found the most righteous cultivation practice"
One day after dinner, Young A came to our house to give us a list with names of people he had persuaded to renounce the CCP and all its affiliated organizations.
We were very pleased and said to him in encouragement, "You’ve done great things. Awakening all those people is extremely important. You’ve accumulated abundant boundless benevolence!"
My wife and I recalled what Master Li Hongzhi says that “Only by having people practice a righteous way can there be true salvation of all beings.” (Zhuan Falun)
We urged him gently, "Why don’t you join us and practice Falun Dafa. This is a once in ten thousand year opportunity. Don’t let it pass you by!"
He replied, "When I see how every one who practices Falun Dafa is so good, I have wanted to join it a long time ago. I’ve practiced Buddhism for quite a few years, but have never really felt good about it. Especially when I realized Buddhism is in a mess, I’ve wanted to give it up. Now, I’ve finally found the most righteous cultivation practice! I will certainly and wholeheartedly practice Falun Dafa from now on."
We got him a copy of Falun Dafa’s main text Zhuan Falun and other Dafa articles. We also gave him a photo of Master Li Hongzhi (the founder of Falun Dafa), provided him with Master’s 9-day lecture in Guangzhou, and a video recording of Master's exercise instruction.
After he started Falun Dafa practice, great changes in all aspects came to him. He strictly adheres to Dafa’s principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance."
Friends and acquaintances who saw his changes all wanted to know, "Is Falun Dafa really so good?"
He responded loudly and clearly, "Who would want to practice if it was not so good! Especially now that the CCP is still continuing its repression, who would dare to? I am proof along with practitioners in our community who are admired and respected.
People Obtain Dafa One by One
Soon after that, one day, two elderly ladies went to Young A’s house when he was out.
They said to his wife, "Your husband started to practice Dafa. No matter what, we also want to practice it. That’s why we are here.”
Before they left, the ladies handed 500 yuan to his wife, “The money is for the Dafa books we want to take with us.”
The wife said, "You can take the Dafa books. I’ll let my husband know when he comes home. This money you can take back.”
Two days later, Young A came to our house again to say, "Not only these two ladies want to practice Dafa, there are five more. One of them had practiced before but was afraid and dropped out. Now, she wants to practice again."
We told him, “Master has always wanted us to seek out former Dafa practitioners who have fallen on the wayside and bring them back. Tell her she’s more than welcome back."
In three more days, we got further news from Young A, "People around me want to obtain the Fa. There are two more people who want to learn. That makes a total of nine people. ”
People are now awakening, and sentient beings want to obtain the Fa. We as Dafa practitioners must keep our righteous thoughts in all that we do and say.
