(Minghui.org) I am now 76, and my husband is 77. At one time we were both so ill that death seemed very near. Fortunately, through Falun Dafa we regained our lives.
Fifteen years have passed since the persecution began. With extreme gratitude, we have written down our cultivation experiences as a testimony to the beauty of Dafa and Teacher's saving grace. I wish that people all over the world could witness just how amazing Dafa is.
1. Encountering Dafa at Death's Door
I have endured a lot of hardship in my life. At the age of four, I had to beg for food. When I was five, a family adopted me. At age seven, I lived on the streets. Early deprivation led to many health problems.
When I was young, I almost became paralyzed several times. A metabolic disorder left me disfigured. I had joint pain, neurasthenia, a constant fever, rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, high blood pressure, and heart disease. When I got older, I developed colorectal cancer. Because I took medications all the time, I got fat and was terribly out of shape.
My husband went to military school in his youth. Over the course of his career, he earned the most credits among hundreds of thousands of soldiers. He served in different positions and saved more than ten people in dangerous circumstances. The excessive fatigue made him develop all kinds of ailments, such as heart and circulatory problems, lumbar pain, nephritis, a gastric ulcer, etc. Later he developed cancer of the nose and liver.
Both of us were really sick, especially when cancer hit us in our 50s. We had to retire early. Hospitals didn't help, nor did all kinds of folk remedies. We searched all over for a cure. We even went to temples to pray to the Buddha statues. However, not only were our illnesses not healed, but we also we incurred spirit possessions, which made things worse. At that point, we lost hope completely and were just waiting for death.
But our lives were not supposed to end like that. While we waited to die, a fortuneteller told us that the Teacher of Falun Dafa was a Buddha reincarnated in the human world. That got our attention.
In April 1996, we saw an advertisement that said: “Falun Gong Class, Free.” So we attended. After the nine classes, I felt extremely fortunate, because we now had Teacher. (Practitioners often call the founder of Dafa "Teacher" or "Master.") We also came to understand that the root cause of one's suffering and being ill is one's karma, which is created lifetime after lifetime. We found the true meaning of life, which is “To return to one's original true self.”
We both stopped going to the hospital and stopped taking medicine. We truly believed in Dafa. Soon after, all our health problems went away. Teacher cleaned up our bodies and removed our karma. Teacher saved us. Teacher also removed our animal possessions. We became very healthy. We got around much more easily than before, and we were in good spirits. Words can't fully express our gratitude to Teacher for his saving grace!
To help more people benefit from Dafa, we began to spread the Fa. We didn't feel tired after traveling long distances. We regularly joined the group exercises and Fa-study, and we used Dafa's principles to guide our words and deeds. Our xinxing was elevated. We were immersed in Buddha Fa cultivation every day.
2. Teacher Protected Us in Difficult Times
Falun Dafa's noble principles and miraculous healing benefits drew many to the practice. As the number increased, Jiang Zemin, the head of the CCP, grew jealous and used his power to initiate the persecution on July 20, 1999.
The atmosphere in China was very tense. Having gone through so many political movements, here was yet another disaster, perhaps worse than the Great Cultural Revolution. Both of us had benefitted from Dafa, so we went to Beijing to appeal to the government to restore Dafa and Teacher's reputations.
From then on, the police officers regularly came to our home to harass us. They put us under close surveillance. We were abducted three times, and our home was ransacked three times. We were fined twice. We were illegally detained four times and forced to stand in the courtyard under the baking sun and deprived of food and water. In 2000 the manager at work ordered me to swear at Teacher and Dafa on TV. We told him, “We are in debt to Teacher. Even if we lost our heads, we would not do that.”
To avoid being arrested and thrown into a forced labor camp, we made a quick decision to leave home. We traveled non-stop to a city more than 2,000 kilometers away. We cut off all communication with our family and began to make a living collecting and selling recyclables. It wasn't easy, but we were determined in our belief and full of hope because we firmly believed in Teacher and Dafa.
Teacher said:
“A Great Enlightened One fears no hardshipHaving forged an adamantine willFree of attachment to living or dyingHe walks the path of Fa-rectificationconfident and poised” ("Righteous Thoughts and Righteous Actions" in Hong Yin Vol. II)
With Teacher's protection, we passed through that difficult period of time. A few years later, we were finally able to return home and began to clarify the facts to people and save sentient beings there.
I later heard that, after we left town, the Party sent agents to five provinces to search for us. They also issued an arrest warrant. All that cost them more than 400,000 yuan. My husband had received many awards in the army and saved many lives. He even met the former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Mao in person. Despite his credentials, he was still persecuted because he practices Falun Dafa.
3. Kind Thoughts and Actions Move Sentient Beings
Teacher said:
“Therefore, a cultivator must cultivate Shan and assimilate to the nature of the universe, Zhen-Shan-Ren.”("A Brief Explanation of Shan" in Essentials for Further Advancement)
A temporary worker caught the handlebar of his motorcycle on the door of our mini-van and fell and hurt himself. He was in the hospital for seven days at a cost of 12,000 yuan. He didn't have a license for his motorcycle or a driver's license. He was the one at fault, so we bore no responsibility, and the traffic control officer was going to fine him.
Seeing that he was in financial difficulty, we covered his medical expenses for him. We also gave him 8,000 yuan for nutritious food to help him recover. The traffic officer was touched. He said, “I have never run into anyone like you.” In addition, after we reasoned with the officer a few times, he decided not to fine the man after all.
A few years in a row, during the Chinese New Year, we would bring gifts when we went to see him. This impressed his neighbors, who made friends with us. Both his family and his neighbors learned the truth about Dafa from us and agreed to quit the CCP, Young Pioneers, and/or Youth League.
4. Run Over by a Truck, But Unhurt
As I was on my way to the supermarket in April 2011, a heavy-duty truck hit me and then ran over me. When the driver pulled me out from under the truck, he said, “Hurry! Get in! I'll take you to the hospital.”
He was so scared that he was shaking; even his voice shook. I said, “Don't worry. I'm fine. I will not go to the hospital. I am a Falun Dafa practitioner, and Teacher protects me. Take it easy.”
I then began to tell him about about Dafa. I told him to remember that reciting “Falun Dafa is wonderful; Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is wonderful” would do one good; that heaven will eliminate the CCP; and that withdrawing from the Party can ensure one's safety. I also asked him to tell his family, friends, and neighbors to quit to Party. He promised me that he would.
When he wanted to compensate me, I said that I didn't want anything. When he saw that my clothes were dirty, he offered to buy me new clothes, but I declined. Someone said, “Why don't you go with him to the hospital? Maybe there is something wrong inside.” I said, “No, I'm fine. Teacher is protecting me.”
There were bystanders all around. Someone said, “I saw it--the truck ran over her, but she's fine. It's truly amazing for people who practice Falun Gong. She didn't want a penny from the driver, either. Where can we find such great people these days? The driver is so lucky to run into someone so nice!”
When they asked me how old I was, I said that I was 73. They couldn't believe it: “My goodness! Someone your age could be seriously injured just falling down, let alone getting run over by a truck. Anyone else would have ended up with broken bones and torn tendons. But you're fine. That's amazing! People who practice Falun Dafa are truly amazing!”
As more people gathered, I took the opportunity to let them know the truth about Dafa. They all reacted positively. Some gave me a thumbs-up and began to shout, “Falun Dafa is wonderful!”
5. Helping People Wake up to the Truth
Without Falun Dafa, my husband and I would have died long ago. It was Teacher who has given both of us a new life. We will continue to let people know about Dafa. Clarifying the facts and saving sentient beings has become our top priority in our day-to-day life.
Whatever the weather, we tell people about Dafa. We do not pick and choose who to speak to and who not to speak to. We've traveled long distances to talk to people. We have been to quite a few provinces and big cities. On the train, bus, boat, or airplane, going to temples, or wherever we are, we do what we are supposed to do. We have so far helped more than 30,000 people quit the Party, including the president of a police bureau, CCP cadres, professors, secretaries of CCP committees, doctors, school teachers, police officers, etc.
We usually talk to people face-to-face. We have run into all kinds of people and encountered many tribulations. The good thing is there are many people who still have kindness in them, and more people are waking up to the truth. I'd like to share two examples:
1. We explained the facts about Dafa to a tour guide on a tour bus to Shanghai. He was a university student. He decided right away to quit the Party.
2. After we repeatedly clarified the facts to a man whose son-in-law was in charge of a 610 Office, he took issue with his son-in-law: “Dafa practitioners are all good people. Aren't you afraid of incurring retribution for persecuting them?”
We have cultivated for 18 years, 14 of them during the persecution. Instead of giving up, we became more mature. We know the CCP is evil. We live by Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. We don't take any drugs and have thereby saved tens of thousands of yuan on medical expenses. We look much younger than our age. Our lives were extended only due to Teacher's saving grace.
We must walk our path well and cultivate diligently in Dafa. We thank Teacher for his saving grace. Heshi!
