Additional Persecution News from China – March 12, 2015 (21 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 12 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 26 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Huaihua City, Hunan Province] Ms. Tang Defen and Ms. Yang Yanduan Arrested

Ms. Tang Defen, in her 70s, and Ms. Yang Yanduan, in her 60s, were arrested by officers from the Laohuangcheng Police Station on the morning of February 17, 2015, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.

2. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Xiaohui Arrested

Ms. Wang Xiaohui was arrested on the morning of March 11, 2015, for distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong.

3. [Datong, Shanxi Province] Mr. Han Renyi Detained

Mr. Han Renyi was arrested on the train to Wutai Mountain on the afternoon of February 27, 2015, for having Falun Gong books and informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong in his bag. He was detained and his wife and grandson, who were with him, were also arrested and detained.

The police forcibly took his keys in order to ransack his home. They confiscated his computer, printer, Falun Gong books, paper bills with messages of Falun Gong on them, and two bank cards.

His wife and grandson were released and he is being held at the Chenzhuang Detention Center in Tatong City.

4. [Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Ms. Shi Yingfang Detained

Ms. Shi Yingfang was arrested on the evening of March 10, 2015, when she was hanging up banners with the words “Falun Dafa is good.” The police ransacked her home. She is being held at the Tongliao City Detention Center.

5. [Jincheng City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Guo Yunzhi Detained

Ms. Guo Yunzhi, 61, was arrested by officers from the Zezhoulu Police Station on February 14, 2015, for distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. She is being held at the Jincheng City Detention Center.

6. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Two Practitioners' Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Wang Shuzhen and Ms. Zhang Meiling were arrested on March 3, 2015. Their whereabouts are unknown.

7. [Meihekou City, Jilin Province] Mr. Sun Defu Sentenced

Mr. Sun Defu, 62, was sentenced to a three-year prison term with four-year probation by Meihekou City Court on February 13, 2015.

8. [Tianjin] Ms. Zhao Yuehua Detained

Ms. Zhao Yuehua was arrested at noon on March 2, 2015. Her home was ransacked. She was then taken to the Hexi Detention Center.

9. [Beijing] Mr. Liu Zhenrong Detained

Mr. Liu Zhenrong, in his 70s, was arrested by officers from the Fengtai Police Department at noon on March 9, 2015. The police confiscated his laptop computer and informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. He is being held at the Fengtai Detention Center.

10. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Liping Detained

Ms. Wang Liping was arrested and taken to the Fuyuan Police Station on the afternoon of March 9, 2015, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in Fuyang Park. She is being held at the Handan City No. 1 Detention Center.

Ms. Lu Yu'e, 46, was arrested on the train to Beijing on March 2, 2015. The police ransacked her home. She is being held at the Datong City No. 2 Detention Center.

12. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Five Practitioners Detained

Ms. Jiang Lanying, 49, Ms. Chen Xiaojuan, 51, Ms. Xiong Quanmei, 63, Ms. Mei Yufeng, in her 70s, and Mr. Wang Honghua, in his 40s, were arrested on February 24, 2015, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. The four female practitioners are being held at the Yichun City Detention Center, and Mr. Wang is being held at the Zhangshu City Detention Center.

13. [Beijing] Ms. Gao Huirong Detained

Ms. Gao Huirong was arrested at home by officers from the Chengshousi Police Station in Fengtai District on March 10, 2015. The police confiscated Falun Gong books and informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. She is being held at that police station.

14. [Yanshan County, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Guifang and Ms. Liu Aihua Arrested

Ms. Liu Guifang and Ms. Liu Aihua were arrested by officers including Du Zhiqiang (杜治强) from the Mengdian Town Police Station on the morning of February 26, 2015, for distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. The police ransacked Ms. Li Guifang’s home and confiscated a picture of the founder of Falun Gong, the book Zhuan Falun, and informational materials. Both ladies were released that afternoon.

15. [Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Ms. Wang Lixia Sentenced

Ms. Wang Lixia, sentenced to a six-year prison term, is being held at the Changchun City Women's Prison in Jilin Province.

16. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Three Practitioners Detained

Ms. Wang Xin, Ms. Guo Xiuping, and Ms. Bai Yuexian were arrested by officers from the Xinghualing Domestic Security Division on March 4, 2015. They are being held at the Taiyuan City No. 1 Detention Center.

17. [Mianyang City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Wang Huaifu Detained

Mr. Wang Huaifu was arrested by officers from the Fucheng District Police Department on the afternoon of March 6, 2015, for distributing Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs. He will be held for 15 days.

18. [Shandong Province] Mr. Wu Zengjian Persecuted

Mr. Wu Zengjian was sentenced and imprisoned at the Shandong Men’s Prison. He was subjected to severe tortures for refusing to be transformed. He has been held in solitary confinement in a small cell for nearly two years.

19. [Xichang City, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Face Trials

Sixteen residents from Xichang City, Sichuan Province were illegally arrested on January 28, 2015, while reading Falun Gong books together at a private home. Although 13 of the arrested were later released, Ms. Zhang Yi, Mr. Liao Ancai, and Ms. Guo Bing remain incarcerated. Xichang City Procuratorate approved their arrest on February 16, which means the three practitioners will now likely face trials.

20. [Tianjin] Ms. Liu Yuanjie Dies, Husband Faces Trial

Ms. Liu Yuanjie, an award-winning space scientist from Tianjin and a Falun Gong practitioner, died at the age of 79 on March 3, 2015, after being persecuted for years. Her husband Mr. Xiong Huifeng wasn't able to see her for the last time. Mr. Xiong, also a space scientist from 8358 Research Institute of the Ministry of Space Industry, was arrested last August for practicing Falun Gong. He remains detained and likely faces trial.

21. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Five Practitioners Sent to Prison

Ms. Wang Xiuyan, Ms. Ma Yuxiang, Ms. Zhang Meizen, Ms. Li Yan, and Ms. Zhong Weiqin were among 12 practitioners who were arrested on April 25 and May 5, 2013 for gathering or possessing Falun Gong literature.

They were detained and tortured for at least 16 months before they were tried and sentenced to 3 and a half to 8 years in prison in October 2014.

The five practitioners were sent to Liaoning Province Women's Prison on March 10, 2015.
