(Minghui.org) Sixteen practitioners were illegally arrested on the morning of January 28, 2015, when they were reading Falun Gong books together at Mingyang Resort in Xichang City. It was confirmed on the evening of January 30 that ten of them were detained.
Officers from the Xichang City State Security Division led by Tai Gangyi and Wang Yongrong, together with special police that were called in, made the arrests.
The police took all 16 practitioners to the Xiaomiao Drug Rehabilitation Center around 11:00 a.m. Ms. Zhang Yi and Mr. Liao Ancai were bound with ropes.
Six police officers ransacked three of the practitioners' homes between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m.
Several of the elderly practitioners were released at 6:00 p.m. that day. The others were detained.
Ms. Zhang Yi, Mr. Liao Ancai, Ms. Guo Bing, and Ms. Li Lingwei were placed under criminal detention on the evening of January 30 and held in the Xiaomiao Detention Center. Mr. Fu Aiguo, Mr. Zhang Jiacheng, and Ms. Yang Yuqun were put under administrative detention and held in the Tuohuang Detention Center.
Three other practitioners' whereabouts are still unknown.
