(Minghui.org) Liu (alias) from the local 610 Office called my husband in the middle of June and said he wanted to talk with him about me. My husband asked me if they knew about my suing Jiang, but he knew they just wanted to make trouble for me.
I thought this was a good opportunity to clarify the facts about Falun Gong, so I told my husband that I would handle it.
Liu called and asked that I come to his office for a talk. At the meeting, he proceeded to say that I was the important Falun Gong person in his area. He asked that I promise not to distribute Falun Gong flyers and just practice the Falun Gong exercises at home. He would change my assignation to an average person if I complied with his wishes. If I did not, he said, I would bring trouble to my child, my husband, and my entire life. He said he would also come to my house to talk to my husband soon.
I discussed the matter with my Fa-study group and they thought that this was an excellent opportunity to talk to the local police officers and the 610 Office staff about Falun Gong. Now, many persecutors have changed their behavior when asked for their names. Therefore, this is an excellent method to avoid further persecution.
After I returned home I wrote a letter and delivered it in person to Liu. This was the end of any future harassment.
Shortened Version of Truth Clarification Letter
Liu and Xie,
You had mentioned that you would call on my husband. I waited for several days, but we have not heard from you. Therefore, I am sending you a letter to answer your questions and alleviate your talking to my husband. I am listing individual thoughts one after the other to make it easier for you to understand the fundamentals of this matter.
1. I am an adult Chinese citizen under existing Chinese civil law, and my husband is not my guardian. I am responsible for my behavior. It is not legally permissible that you put pressure on my husband.2. I benefited a lot from my practice of Falun Gong, and I want people to hear the facts about this cultivation practice from someone who is a practitioner. However, just for my practice, I was arrested and taken to brainwashing centers, detention centers, and labor camps many times during the past 16 years. My husband suffered much during that period. Yet he witnessed the improvement in my personality and health after I stepped into this practice. Thus, he not once complained about me. In fact, he understood the situation quite acutely.3. Since my husband guarded my belief, it is my turn to protect him and reduce his stress. So, out of kindness, please do not talk to my husband.4. You told me to practice Falun Gong at home and warned me not to go to the streets and clarify the truth about Falun Gong, or you would create problems for my husband and child.5. You said I was selfish because I did not care about my family, but only about my belief. You are wrong! Falun Gong practitioners were and still are harassed, and sentenced to prison terms because of their belief. Therefore, we could not take care of our family and shoulder our responsibilities. Practitioners are good people as they follow the principles Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and no matter where they are, they carry out their duties.6. Falun Gong has spread to over 100 countries but is only persecuted in China. And, given your job, you have had contact with many practitioners. Have you ever met one practitioner who was bad or an outlaw?7. You warned me not to do anything illegal. Is that not something that is also required of you also. I have suffered imprisonment, torture, and other hardships—not because I was a criminal, but because of my belief, which is supposed to be protected by our country's constitution. It is my civil right to practice my belief.8. The 610 Office officials arranged for two people to monitor me around the clock. They even followed me to my grocery store during the 2008 Olympic games. I went to the community office to ask which law allows them to do that. One official said, “Some laws we will not tell you about.” Another said, “Don’t mention law to me. The law does not apply to Falun Gong.”9. I told the guard in the labor camp that I did not break any law. The guard said he did not care if I broke a law or not. It was the 610 Office and local police who took me there.10. Practitioners who were imprisoned or forced into labor camps because of you and other officials could very well be dead by now. Even if they came back home, they may have suffered such torture that caused them to give up their beliefs. For this, it is as if their souls no longer exist. Those lives are like the walking dead. Do you not feel any guilt for that?11. You said you neither hit nor had anyone fired from their jobs during your assignment with the 610 Office. But, the persecution of Falun Gong has lasted for 16 years and you were part of the killing machine. You tried to appease yourself. And for what? If you still have some kindness within you, you should feel bad for the bloody persecution of Falun Gong.12. The 610 Office is an illegal organization formed by Jiang Zemin’s verbal order. I still felt that you both had some kindness and knew the current climate, so you dared not tell me clearly about your job, rank, and position. You tried to protect yourself, but it is useless. That is: You need to stop persecuting Falun Gong and protect practitioners. That is the only way to protect yourselves.13. I think you should know that the 610 Office is on its way out. Many police have already stopped persecuting Falun Gong. Some judges even delayed the court dates for Falun Gong practitioners, and they refused to sign their names on Falun Gong practitioners’ court documents.14. You persecuted practitioners, maligned Falun Gong, and are responsible for some people hating Falun Gong. Have you ever thought that these people may keep this evidence for the future in order to keep themselves safe at your expense?I follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and I have never viewed you as enemies. Instead, I think of you as like my family members. Thus, I ask that you stop the persecution and restore your kindness and righteous thoughts for your own sake.
Handing out Falun Gong truth materials or not is my civil right, which is protected by the Chinese Constitution. Whether I choose to do so or not is my business, and by all means, is certainly not breaking the law.
