(Minghui.org) The Chinese Communist regime has devised various forms of torture in its attempt to make detained Falun Gong practitioners give up their spiritual belief. In addition to more common methods of torture and brainwashing, detention facilities across China also use animals and insects to terrorize practitioners who refuse to renounce Falun Gong.

Below are cases in which detained practitioners were exposed to and injured by various animals and insects including scorpions, spiders, rats, snakes, and attack dogs.

Ants

Mr. Xu Yushan from Heilongjiang Province was severely tortured in the Suihua Forced Labor Camp. Because he refused to give up his belief, a guard rubbed sugar water around his genitals and put a large number of ants on the area.

Ms. Zhao Lingru from Hebei Province was arrested in April 2002 and taken to the Taihang Prison in Baoding City. He said: “A guard once grabbed my collar and poured something from a bottle down my clothes. When I looked to see what it was, I saw large ants.”

Ms. Zong Ming from Wuhan City, Hubei Province was held in Wuhan Women's Prison. Inmate Zhang Baoxiang picked some ants up off the floor and put them into Ms. Zong clothes.

Wasps

Ms. Wang Jiayue from Yunnan Province was taken to a brainwashing center because she refused to renounce Falun Gong. The guards there moved her to a pigsty with a lot of wasps flying around. She suffered severe swelling from the wasp stings.

Mosquitoes

Ms. Jia Haiying from Inner Mongolia was once tied to a tree close to a filthy pigsty on a humid summer evening. Ms. Jia was wearing shorts and a sleeveless shirt, and swarms of mosquitoes and flies soon covered her body. Her hands cuffed, she couldn't move or swat away the blood-thirsty insects. She said the ordeal was simply unbearable.

Ms. Wu Weiming, 58, from Hefei City in Anhui Province also went through horrific torture along with other detained practitioners. She said: “We were handcuffed in a little shed made of asbestos next to a pigsty, and bitten repeatedly by mosquitoes and flies. We were not allowed to wash ourselves off afterward.”

Mr. Chu Liwen from Weifang City in Shandong Province was stripped naked and exposed to mosquitoes. He suffered an infection caused by the mosquito bites.

Flies

Ms. Zhang Cuimei, 72, from Hebei Province was arrested in April 2002 and taken to a brainwashing center. She said, “I was put under the baking sun. The guard took a bucket of garbage and put it in front of me. Swarms of flies landed on my face and arms and bit my skin.”

Snakes and Geckos

Ms. Pan Juying from Anlu City, Hubei Province said, “Guard Chen Xinyun put two snakes on me. He then forced me to put my left hand and my feet into a bag full of poisonous snakes. I felt the snakes slithering all over my feet, and they felt very cold...”

Ms. Wang Chunmei was brutally tortured in Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp, Hebei Province in the summer of 2003. The guards put snakes on her body. Once, she was put on the ground in the wild, and they put poisonous snakes and geckos on her body. Guards later put a poisonous snake on her neck three times. Then they put a gecko on her body and used an electric baton to shock the gecko until it died.

In summer of 2000, the 610 Office in Lanshan District, Linyi City, Shandong Province hired over 30 local street thugs to torture practitioners. The head of the 610 Office instigated them to get a snake to bite practitioner Mr. Peng Chengxu’s neck.

Scorpions

Ms. Xu Juhua from Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province was tortured in October 2002 by two drug addicts in Chatou Forced Labor Camp. They put poisonous bugs and a scorpion on her eyes, hands and feet.

Spiders

Bugs and Lice

Ms. Lu Yanfei from Cuining City, Sichuan Province said guards put black-shelled bugs onto her neck when she was detained at Sichuan Women’s Forced Labor Camp.

Caterpillars

A practitioner who was detained at Yongchuan Prison in Chongqing mentioned in a letter to his family, “The team leader ordered an inmate to collect over 100 caterpillars. They then stripped off a practitioner’s clothes and let the caterpillars crawl on his body…”

Rabbits

The sixth division in Jiuquan Prison, Gansu Province is the most notorious for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Perpetrators there put a rabbit down the front of Mr. Shi Jinxiang's pants and then hit it repeatedly, causing it to frantically bite, kick and scratch. Mr. Zhang Yanrong experienced similar torture and he died as a result of relentless abuse. While examining his body, his family members found that his genitalia and the surrounding area was black with bruises.

Pigs

Guards at Jiuquan Prison in Gansu Province invented a cruel and humiliating torture involving a pig. The perpetrators forced Falun Gong practitioners on top of a pig and then handcuffed their hands underneath the pig's belly. When the pig got scared and ran, the victims had to try to balance themselves, otherwise they would fall and get dragged along by the pig.

Attack Dogs

Shanxi Women's Labor Camp held Falun Gong practitioners from all over the province. To torture practitioners, guards released wolfhounds to attack them. Many practitioners were bitten, and the guards just watched in amusement.

Falun Gong practitioner Chen Minjie went to Beijing to petition for the right to practice Falun Gong. He was arrested on December 26, 2000 at the Tianjin Railroad Station and was sent the local detention center, where the guards had a wolfhound attack him.
