Plaintiffs in Lawsuit against Jiang Zemin Pressured by the Authorities

(Minghui.org) Three people from Henan Province were arrested on October 12, 2015, after they filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin, the former leader of the Chinese Communist regime.

The complaints, submitted in mid July 2015, demanded that Jiang be brought to justice for launching the persecution of Falun Gong. Around 200,000 victims of the persecution in China have filed such complaints.

While most complaints have been well received by authorities, there are practitioners who have faced additional persecution for filing their lawsuits against Jiang. This shows that there is still some remnants of power from the Jiang era, which is trying to suppress those victims seeking justice.

Employees from the Zhongyuan Oil Field Arrested

The arrested practitioners include Mr. Liu Yubao, 61, Ms. Wu Jianling, 51, and Ms. Zhang Qirong, 64, all employees of the Zhongyuan Oil Field based in Lankao County, Kaifeng City, Henan Province.

Police from the Domestic Security Division of Lankao County ransacked Mr. Liu's home and confiscated a printer, computer, a DVD-ROM writer, and some Falun Gong informational materials.

Police stated that the arrest was carried out because they filed complaints against Jiang, and that they would be released if they signed statements promising to drop the complaints.

Mr. Liu was held in criminal detention in the Lankao County Detention Center. Ms. Wu and Ms. Zhang were held for 15 days in administrative detention.

Family Ostracized

Mr. Liu Yubao and his wife Ms. Wu Junying began practicing Falun Gong in February 1998. He attributed his recovery from illnesses that had plagued him for many years to the practice.

He was reported to police and arrested for distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong with his wife on September 4, 2004. They were taken to the Lankao County Detention Center and held for 38 days.

Police transferred them to labor camps in Zhengzhou and Kaifeng, Henan Province. However, the labor camps refused to accept them due to their poor health conditions. The police released them after extorting 10,000 yuan from them.

Ms. Wu was taken to a brainwashing center at the Party school of the Zhongyuan Oil Field in 2005, a location set up by the local 610 Office.

Officials from his residential committee pressured their son to persuade them to renounce Falun Gong.

The family was ostracized and discriminated against by their neighbors because they were monitored by local officials.

Ms. Wu was forced to retire in 2001 because she refused to give up Falun Gong. She was later detained for telling people about the persecution of Falun Gong in September 2004.

Ms. Zhang began practicing Falun Gong in May 1997. She was held for 15 days in a brainwashing center.

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
