(Minghui.org) I was making phone calls to tell people in China about Falun Dafa and the persecution, and often argued with the other person and became upset. This happened when someone was very rude to me, or had notions based on misinformation spread by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) about the practice.

After I studied the Fa and looked inward, I realized that I was becoming agitated because I wasn't thinking of others first. I saw only that he or she did not let me finish what I wanted to say, or didn’t want to accept the truth about Dafa.

I wondered why I had only helped a few people to withdraw their memberships from the CCP and its affiliated organizations.

Teacher said:

“I also want to tell you that your nature in the past was actually based on egotism and selfishness. From now on, whatever you do, you should consider others first, so as to attain the righteous Enlightenment of selflessness and altruism. So from now on, whatever you do or whatever you say, you must consider others—or even future generations—along with Dafa’s eternal stability.” (“Non-Omission in Buddha-Nature” from Essentials for Further Advancement)

I remembered that Teacher requires us to think of others first. Therefore, I thought about how I could do this when I was making phone calls to China.

Another practitioner shared his experience with me. When someone did not believe that the CCP harvested organs from living Falun Gong practitioners, he said to the person, “I truly understand why you don't believe me, as you are too kind. That's why you don't believe such a terrible thing could ever happen in this world, or that the CCP could be this evil.” The other party then started listening to him.

Trying a Different Approach

I applied this approach one day. When I made a phone call a man answered the phone. He began swearing at me as soon as I started talking about organ harvesting, then he hung up. I called the number again, and this time a woman answered. She swore at me as well. I hung up and then called back. This time the man picked up the phone and swore at me.

I said, “You are very kind. That's why you don't believe that the CCP would do such evil things. Buy you have actually been deceived.” As soon as I said this, he stopped swearing and lowered his voice.

I then talked to him about Falun Dafa. I told him many things, from how I had benefited physically and mentally from practicing, to Dafa being practiced freely around the world. I told him about the staged “self-immolation” incident on Tiananmen Square, and about organ harvesting from living practitioners.

He and his wife decided to withdraw their memberships from the CCP after I finished talking. I asked them to remember, “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.”

They also agreed to visit the Minghui, NTDTV, and Epoch Times websites, and said that they would tell their friends and relatives about the quitting the CCP movement.

Through this experience, I realized that when I think of others and hold no selfish thoughts, they will respond in a positive way. I had previously argued with people and tried to put them down, which obviously lead to them not feeling good, and responding in a negative way.

When we face opposition from others, we can kindly ease their negative attitude and find a better angle to carry forward the conversation. This will inspire their kindness and righteousness, and lay a good foundation for truth-clarification and saving sentient beings.
