(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Wen was arrested at his home in Tianjin City on July 30, 2015. The officers also ransacked his home.
The arrest was approved by the area's authorities. His family members have hired an attorney and told him to plead not guilty on behalf of his client. Mr. Li is held inthe Hexi District Detention Center.
Arrested and Sentenced in 2001
Mr. Li Wen and his wife were illegally arrested in July 2001 for practicing Falun Gong, and Mr. Li was sentenced to seven years imprisonment.
He was tortured in the Tianjin City Prison. He was forced to sit on a small stool, which was about one inch wide, one inch high, and four to five inches long. His hips were injured after a few days on the small stool.
From the long term torture, he came down with pleurisy, an inflammation of the lining surrounding the lungs. He was also given medication that damaged his liver.
His prison term ended in August 2008, and he went back to the factory to work. Although his body was battered and beaten, he still managed to work hard and diligently in his everyday job.
Life Before the Persecution
Mr. Li Wen, 48, started to practice Falun Gong in 1998. He graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tsinghua University in 1991 at the top of his class. He accepted a position at the Tianjin Bulb Plant after graduating.
He excelled in his work and was rewarded many times for technological innovations at the national level. He was considered the top technical expert in his workplace and was promoted to director in the first half of 2001.
