Hebei Practitioner Arrested for Possession of Falun Gong Materials

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Xu Yongfan (徐永凡) from Qinhuangdao City in Hebei Province was recently arrested for possession of Falun Gong materials. He is now illegally detained at the Qinglong County Detention Center.

Police stopped and searched a truck rented by Mr. Xu on October 15, 2014. They found and confiscated 3,000 copies of 2015 calendars and brochures with information about Falun Gong, which Mr. Xu had bought with his own money and planned to give as gifts to his friends and relatives.

The truck driver was released and allowed to leave with the truck.

Mr. Xu's family hired a lawyer after his arrest was approved by the Qinglong Procuratorate. The lawyer visited him at Qinglong Detention Center on December 25. He reported that Mr. Xu appeared to be okay but was forced to work for long hours daily.

When Mr. Xu's family went to the Qinglong Domestic Police Station on December 26, Li Yinqing (李印卿), chief of the Qinglong Domestic Security Division, told them that Mr. Xu was detained for practicing Falun Gong. When they tried to tell him the facts about Falun Gong, Li shouted, “Stop telling me about Falun Gong! If you say another word, I will arrest you!”

Officers from the Qinglong County 610 Office, Domestic Security Division, and Tumenzi Police Station broke into and ransacked practitioner Mr. Han Yaochun's (韩耀春) house in Tumenzi Town on November 17 and December 19. They tried to force Mr. Han to provide false evidence that he was on the receiving end of the Falun Gong materials confiscated from Mr. Xu. Mr. Han refused to comply.
