(Minghui.org) According to still-incomplete statistics, more than 200 Falun Gong practitioners have been incarcerated in Lanzhou Prison for their beliefs. They have been force-fed, deprived of sleep, and subjected to many other brutal forms of torture.

Mr. Chang Jubin, a court official at the Baiying City Procuratorate, was sentenced to 11 years in Lanzhou Prison for refusing to renounce his belief in Falun Gong. When he was released on August 31, 2013, he was mentally traumatized as a result of being tortured.

Mr. Wen Shixue, who was employed by the Lanhua Company in Lanzhou City, was sentenced to eight years in 2002 for hanging up banners to raise awareness of the persecution of Falun Gong by the Communist regime. After years of torture in Lanzhou Prison, he suffered a stroke and was taken to an emergency room.

Force-Feeding

Several prisoners would restrain a practitioner in a chair, open his/her mouth with a pair of pincers, and insert a tube down their throat.

Practitioner Mr. Gao Feng was force-fed up to twice daily. The tube was once inserted so deeply that it reached his intestines. The prison doctor did not stop until Mr. Gao was writhing in pain.

Shocking with Electric Batons

Guards sometimes shock practitioners with electric batons for hours at a time.

Guards Wang Changlin, Liu Bincheng, Zhao Yanzhong, and He Liqing tortured Mr. Gao Feng with electric batons on December 24, 2001. They inserted the baton into his mouth, and shocked his head, face, neck, and other parts of his body for more than an hour.

Guard Gao Zhengdong cuffed Mr. Wu Binqi to a bar and shocked him with an electric baton for more than 4 hours.

Team leaders Xiao Bing and Jiang Yuyan shocked Mr. Peng Xibin with an electric baton in June 2004 because he refused to be “transformed.”

Sitting on a “Small Stool”

Practitioners are often forced to sit on “small stools” for hours. This innocuously named piece of furniture often caused the flesh on victims' buttocks to fester after prolonged use.

Mr. Peng Xibin was taken to Lanzhou Prison in January 2003. Three inmates monitored him while he was forced to sit on a “small stool” for more than 13 hours.

Mr. Bai Sanyuan began a 6-month hunger strike to protest his illegal imprisonment. Starting in January 2010, he was forced to sit on a “small stool” for 15 hours daily for 8 months. Guards also attached a heavy bucket around his neck.

Handcuffed Behind the Back

Guards would order up to five inmates to handcuff and shackle a practitioner, and then connect the handcuffs and shackles behind the practitioner with wires.

Mr. Wang Youjiang was tortured like this for more than 2 hours because he possessed lectures written by the founder of Falun Gong.

Inmates Ordered to Monitor and Torture Practitioners

Each practitioner is assigned four inmates who are ordered to punish the practitioner in any they choose if the practitioner refuses to cooperate with guards.

Mr. Wei Junren was once beaten by inmates with a wooden stool.

Solitary Confinement

Practitioners are detained in an isolation cell around the clock and deprived of sleep.

Mr. Wang Youjiang was held in a such cell for seven months for refusing to do hard labor, a means of “re-education” employed by the Chinese regime.

Mr. Wu Binqi was taken to the No. 10 Division in Lanzhou Prison in January 2003. To “transform” him, or force him to give up his belief, guard Li Wen put him in solitary confinement for over 50 days.

Mr. Yang Xuegui was held in only his underwear in an isolation cell for 10 days in the winter of 2002.

Connecting Handcuffs and Shackles

Guards would place handcuffs and shackles on a practitioner and connect them, forcing the practitioner into a fetal position.

After Mr. Wang Youjiang was cuffed and shackled like this, he was forced to walk 50 meters during an interrogation. He was restrained in this position in solitary confinement for 83 days.

Mr. Luo Xiufeng was once cuffed to a pole in this position for an entire year.

Sleep Deprivation

Sleep deprivation is a common form of torture used in Lanzhou Prison.

In an effort to "transform" practitioners, guards at Lanzhou Prison formed a special group to take turns keeping practitioners from falling asleep. To do so, they sometimes play Communist Party propaganda against Falun Gong at maximum volume.

Guards Wang Wei, He Xin, and Yang Jianjun deprived Mr. Bai Sanyuan of sleep in 2011 and beat him whenever he nodded off.

Hanging with Toes Touching the Ground

Practitioner are sometimes hung up on uneven bars by their handcuffs. As they hang for hours, only their toes touch the ground.

For doing a Falun Gong meditation exercise, Mr. Gao Feng was hung up like this for an hour. On another occasion, he was hung up for an entire afternoon.
