Retired Military Officer Again Tortured to the Brink of Death; Wife Detained for the Third Time

(Minghui.org) Retired military officer Mr. Yao Rongxuan has been persecuted for over a decade simply because of his faith in Falun Gong. He has been illegally detained, imprisoned and persecuted financially.

His wife Ms. Xu Xiaoqin was also persecuted after she began practicing in 2010. She was recently illegally arrested for the third time by the Nanda Road Police Station officers on May 1, 2014 while giving out Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs. She is being held at the Yongchuan District Detention Center.

Arrest in 2013: Wife Detained, Husband Forced to Leave Home to Avoid Arrest

In the early morning hours of April 11, 2013, officer He Chengjun from Yongchuan District Domestic Security Division, officer Luo Mingquan from Shengli Road resident office and others pried open the lock to Ms. Xu's residence and arrested her. She was subsequently detained at the Yongchuan Detention Center for a month.

Her husband Mr. Yao Rongxuan dared not return home for fear that he would again be arrested. Long Xianguo, an officer at Shengli Road resident office notified Mr. Yao that he had to apply for a new ID card in person. When Mr. Yao did not come to the station, his military allowance was withheld.

Mr. Yao returned home in 2014. The officers at Shengli Road resident office refused to give him the holiday allowances he was entitled to. Acting under orders from the 610 Office and Domestic Security Division, they told him to write statements promising not to take part in gatherings of Falun Gong practitioners.

Arrest in 2012: Home Ransacked and Couple Sent to Brainwashing Class

Officers from Yongchuan District Domestic Security and Shengli Road resident office ransacked the couple's home on April 15, 2012.

Mr. Yao was then detained at the Huangguashan brainwashing class and Yongchuan Detention Center for eight months. The Shengli Road resident office and Yubingju neighborhood committee took the opportunity to cancel his low income and military allowances. Later on, only his military allowance was reinstated.

Ms. Xu Xiaoqin was imprisoned at the Huangguashan brainwashing class from April to August. She was detained for another month in November, during the 18^th Party Congress.

Arrests during 2001-2009: Mr. Yao Rongxuan Tortured to the Brink of Death on Several Occasions

Mr. Yao joined the military in 1983. He was previously an accountant at Changdu military regiment in Tibet and later on promoted to finance department head of the border security division. He was a hardworking employee and was awarded a dozen times for his outstanding work performance.

He started to practice Falun Gong in 1998 and was forced to leave the military after the persecution began.

He was sentenced to seven months of forced labor and unjustly imprisoned for seven years from February 2001 to end of 2009.

He was subjected to various forms of torture during his detention. As a consequence, he was severely persecuted physically as well as mentally and nearly died in prison.
