Additional Persecution News from China – July 7, 2014 (13 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 8 provinces. According to this report, 8 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 20 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Meihekou City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Yan Wrongfully Sentenced to Four Years in Prison

Ms. Zhang Yan from Meihekou City was illegally detained in the Meihekou Detention Center. She went on a hunger strike to protest. Her cheeks were bruised when she was pinched during force-feeding. She is emaciated.

The Meihekou Court held an illegal trial in the detention center either on May 12 or 13, 2014, and sentenced Ms. Zhang to four years in prison. She has appealed the sentence.

Ms. Zhang was transferred from the Meihekou Detention Center to the Liaoyuan Detention Center in Jilin Province in May 2014. Detention center officials said that she was not allowed to see anyone during the appeal period.

2. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Demei Arrested

Ms. Wang Demei from Qingdao City was arrested on the afternoon of July 5, 2014, for talking to people about Falun Gong. It is believed that she is being held in the Bianfang Police Station in the Shazikou neighborhood.

3. [Weiyuan County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Tang Kefang and Three Practitioners Arrested

Practitioners Wu and Liu from Weiyuan County were arrested in Zigong City on July 5, 2014.

Ms. Tang Kefang and her husband, Mr. Huang Shengkui, were arrested at home by officers from the Weiyuan Police Department on July 5, 2014. The next day, the police ransacked their home and took several digital and electronic devices.

4. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liu Hui Arrested

Ms. Liu Hui, in her 40s, was arrested on Dacheng Street in the Nangang District, Harbin City for distributing Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs on the afternoon of July 5, 2014.

Her husband and family went to a number of police stations looking for her. Around 11 p.m. they finally found her at the Dacheng Police Station. She was taken to the Harbin No. 2 Detention Center, also known as Yaziquan, by the police at 1 a.m. that night.

5. [Puyang City, Henan Province] Mr. Zhang Xiaobo and Ms. Zhang Yuling Detained

Mr. Zhang Xiaobo and Ms. Zhang Yuling were arrested for telling people about Falun Gong in Puyang City on the afternoon of July 5, 2014. The police searched their homes and took a large number of Falun Dafa informational materials. They are being held in the Puyang Detention Center.

6. [Tianjin] Ms. Yan Shuting and Ms. Zhang Jianxia Detained

Ms. Yan Shuting and Ms. Zhang Jianxia were arrested by officers from the Xiqing District Police Station on July 5, 2014. Both were taken to detention centers around 11 p.m. that night. Ms. Yan was held in the Yangliuqing Detention Center in the Xiqing District. Ms. Zhang was taken to the Tianjin No. 1 Detention Center.

7. [Pingshan County, Hebei Province] Ms. Yan Meiying in Police Custody

Ms. Yan Meiying went to Dongshuinian Village in Pingshan Town to tell villagers the facts about Falun Gong on the morning of July 6, 2014. She was arrested and taken to the Chengguan Police Station.

8. [Weiyuan County, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Liu Jianping, her husband Mr. Liu Wangquan, and Ms. Wu Xiurong from Weiyuan County were arrested on July 5, 2014. Ms. Liu escaped. She was arrested again the next morning by Zhang Bin, director of the Weiyuan Police Station, and a dozen officers.

The police ransacked Ms. Wu's home and confiscated Falun Dafa books and paper bills with messages about Falun Gong printed on them. The police then searched Ms. Liu's home and confiscated a computer and a printer, as well as other personal belongings.

9. [Chongqing] Ms. Luo Daoying Detained

Ms. Luo Daoying was arrested on July 5, 2014. She is being held in the Rongchang Detention Center.

10. [Jingtai County, Gansu Province] Five Practitioners Arrested

Wang Cun, head of the Jingtai County Domestic Security Division, broke into Mr. Ma He's home on the afternoon of January 10, 2014. Mr. Ma was arrested and later released because of health reasons.

Officers from the Jingtai County Police Department arrested Mr. Ma He, Mr. Ma Liyuan, Mr. Ma Zufu, Ms. Hao Guofang, and Ms. Wan Mingfen on July 4, 2014. The five practitioners were taken to the Baiyin Detention Center that day. Mr. Ma He and Mr. Ma Liyuan were released when detention center officials refused to admit them because of high-blood pressure and heart problems.

11. [Yanshi City, Henan Province] Ms. Yan Qiaoju and Ms. Gao Miaoge Sentenced

Ms. Yan Qiaoju was sentenced to five years in prison.

Ms. Gao Miaoge was sentenced to three years in prison.

12. [Tonghua County, Jilin Province] A Number of Practitioners Harassed

Wang Yanlin, Zhao Min, and Xia Yueqing are officials dedicated to persecuting Falun Gong practitioners in Yingebu Town, Tonghua County. They harassed Ms. Jiang Xia and Ms. Liu Cuixiang, who live in the same village, on July 1, 2014. They went on to harass Mr. He Chuanpeng on July 2, 2014. They ordered the practitioners to write and sign guarantee statements to renounce Falun Gong. They threatened that anyone who refused to sign would be arrested.

Ms. Yin Guiqiu and Ms. Wang Fengwu were arrested by officers from the Xinquan District Police Station on the afternoon of July 5, 2014, for telling people the facts about Falun Gong in the Xinquan District of Xiangyin County. They are being held in the Xiangyin County Detention Center.
