Ms. Ma Guiqing Arrested After Visiting Relatives at a Beijing Detention Center
(Minghui.org) Ms. Ma Guiqing, 71, was illegally arrested in Beijing on May 19, 2014, after visiting her elder sister, 82, and brother-in-law in a detention center. The solemn family reunion was marred by further tragedy.
Si Guoqi, manager of the Yisiyuan Neighborhood Residential Committee in Chaoyang District, Beijing, led his employee Du, policeman Hu Qidong, police from Jiuxianqiao Police Station, and the domestic security team to arrest her. They then ransacked her 82-year-old sister's home. They confiscated four copies of Zhuan Falun, a set of video tapes of Falun Gong Teacher's Fa lecture, and Teacher's picture.
Ms. Ma, 71, was taken to the Chaoyang District Detention Center at 2 a.m. on May 20. Due to her illnesses, she was released on bail. Her husband and younger sister were also arrested. They were all released at 10 p.m.
Since Ms. Ma, was a resident near Huabei Oilfield, Hebei Province, the oilfield's Jizhong Police Department, sent security officers Lu Hongwei, Li Chawu, and another female officer to Beijing. They escorted Ms. Ma back to her home near the Huabei Oilfield, on May 2.
Police officer Han Yan of the Bohai Police Department, Hebei Province, led a few policemen to ransack Ms. Ma's home. They confiscated several Falun Dafa books and Teacher's Fa lecture video tapes. Her car was confiscated, too.
Though Ms. Ma still has her freedom, she is monitored by the residential committee.
Before retirement, Ms. Ma was the head pharmacist at the Huabei Oilfield General Hospital. She had high blood pressure, episodes of a severe bloody nose, and heart and kidney problems. After she started the practice of Falun Gong in 1998, all her illnesses went away. Since then she has never claimed medical reimbursements.
Though the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Ms. Ma continued her cultivation and exercises. Thus, she has been persecuted by the police and CCP many times, and was even arrested twice.
In July 2004, the Jizhong Police Department sentenced her to a forced labor camp for a year. She was taken to Tangshan Number One Forced Labor Camp, Hebei Province. But the forced labor camp rejected her, as the medical exam showed that her blood pressure and heart had problems. The police then looked for different forced labor camps that would take her. They called the Police Departments at Qinhuangdao City and Shijiazhuang City, both in Hebei Province. However, they failed and had to take Ms. Ma back to the police department.
At the Jizhong Police Department, Ms. Ma was not allowed to eat or drink regularly. Her weight dropped from 142 pounds to 100 pounds. She asked to be released on bail to seek medical attention. But the police refused to do so.
On August 21, Ms. Ma told Deputy Director Shi of the police department: “Instead of letting you slowly torture me to death, it might be easier for me to just stop eating. I am not afraid of death, nor am I afraid of force-feeding.” Thus, she held a hunger strike.
On August 24, police took her to the hospital affiliated with the Oil Production Factory. She was put in the ninth ward and constantly monitored. She was force-fed from 8 a.m. to midnight every day. She was totally exhausted. Her illnesses that were gone after she practiced Falun Gong all came back: kidney illness, gallstones, high blood pressure, and heart disease.
The police later put her in a forced labor camp. After 45 days, the forced labor camp rejected her due to her illness symptoms.
