Additional Persecution News from China – May 29, 2014 (26 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from mainland China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 21 cities or counties in 12 provinces. According to this report, 12 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 23 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Wang Yongqiang and Mr. Wang Yonggang Detained

Mr. Wang Yongqiang and his brother Mr. Wang Yonggang were arrested at home on May 15, 2014. They were held at the Jinghe Detention Center in Dongxihu District for 10 days.

Mr. Wang Yongqiang was arrested again on May 25, 2014, the day he should have been released. His whereabouts are unknown.

2. [Weishi County, Henan Province] Ms. Wang Aixia and Ms. Wang Yue Arrested

Ms. Wang Aixia and Ms. Wang Yue were arrested and taken to the Kaifeng City Detention Center by officers from the Zhangshi Police Station on May 26, 2014.

3. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Lu Dongmei's Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Lu Dongmei was arrested and taken to the Jinzhou Police Department by Longwang Police Station officers on the evening of May 27, 2014, because she distributed informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was held at the police department overnight. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

4. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Lu Shuhua and Ms. Pan Yuyan Detained

Ms. Lu Shuhua and Ms. Pan Yuyan were arrested by officers on May 27, 2014, for distributing materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. Their homes were ransacked and they were taken to the Weizigou Detention Center.

5. [Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Lu Mei Arrested

Ms. Lu Mei was arrested by officers from the Gongrenjie Police Station on May 10, 2014. While being held at the Linyeju Detention Center, she was beaten. After holding hunger strikes to protest the persecution for 10 days, she was released on May 20, 2014.

Ms. Lu was arrested again on May 24, 2014, and she is now holding a hunger strike to protest her persecution.

Ms. Pan Meihong, in her 40s, was arrested by officers from the Xudong Police Station on April 27, 2014, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She is being held at the Yangyuan Brainwashing Center in Wuhan City.

7. [Mianzhu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Cai Arrested

Ms. Cai was handcuffed and arrested by officers from the Qitian Police Station on the morning of May 27, 2014, while she distributed informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was released that evening.

8. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia] Ms. Yao Qingmei Detained

Ms. Yao Qingmei was arrested by officers from the local police department on the morning of May 26, 2014, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. The police ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books and personal items. Ms. Yao is being held at the Aohanqi Detention Center.

Ms. Li Meiping was sentenced to a five and a half year prison term by Meixian District Court on March 19, 2014. She was taken to the Guangzhou Chatou Women's Prison and was then transferred to the Fuda Detention Center due to her physical condition.

10. [Dachang County, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Xiuxiang Detained

Ms. Liu Xiuxiang was arrested on May 25, 2014, and is being held at the Dachang County Detention Center.

Ms. Chen Kaili was arrested by plainclothes officers on May 28, 2014. The police confiscated her computer and other personal items.

13. [Nanyang City, Henan Province] Mr. Qiao Guoqian Detained

Mr. Qiao Guoqian was arrested by officers from the Hanhua Police Station in Xinye County on the evening of May 26, 2014, for posting informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. He was later transferred to a detention center.

14. [Yueqing City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Lian Fen and Her Daughter Arrested

Ms. Lian Fen and her daughter were arrested on May 27, 2014 and May 28, 2014, respectively.

15. [Beijing] Mr. Hao Yongsen's Whereabouts Unknown

Mr. Hao Yongsen was arrested by plainclothes officers on May 25, 2014, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. His whereabouts is unknown.

16. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Six Practitioners Sentenced

The following six practitioners were recently sentenced to different prison terms by the Jinzhou District Court: Mr. Xia Yuanxin to seven years; Ms Qin Yulan to three and a half years; Ms. Ma Ruitian to eight and a half years; Ms. Han Xueming to three years; Ms. Ma Aibing to three years; Mr. Wang Defa to five years.

17. [Tianjin] Ms. Yao Shilan Detained

Ms. Yao Shilan was arrested by officers from the Houxiang Town Police Station on May 13, 2014, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She is being held at the Wuqing District Detention Center.

18. [Tieling City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Bai Jie Detained

Ms. Bai Jie was arrested and taken to the Xifeng Detention Center on May 24, 2014, for distributing Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs. She was held for ten days.

19. [Qidong County, Hunan Province] Ms. Tan Jiaoxiu Detained

Ms. Tan Jiaoxiu, 68, was arrested by Qidong County Police Station officers on May 5, 2014. The police extorted 10,000 yuan from her family and misappropriated 8,000 yuan thereof for themselves. They also confiscated Ms. Tan's Falun Gong books. She was held at a detention center for 15 days.

20. [Xian City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Wang Juanxiu's Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Wang Juanxiu was arrested by officers from the Taoyuanlu Police Station on April 26, 2014. Her whereabouts are unknown.

21. [Luzhou City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Li Yanjun and Ms. Yang Taiying Sentenced

Jiangyang District Court secretly held trials against Mr. Li Yanjun and Ms. Yang Taiying at the Luzhou Detention Center on May 16, 2014. Ms Yang was sentenced to a four and a half year prison term and Mr. Li to a four-year prison term.

22. [Nanpi County, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Yuying Arrested

Ms. Zhang Yuying was recently arrested by officers from the local police department because she distributed materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was released after the police extorted 20,000 yuan from her family.

23. [Tianjin] Three Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Chen Guoliang, his wife Ms. Wang Guirong, and her relative Wang Ping were arrested at Mr. Chen's home by officers from the Tanggu Police Department and Hujiayuanjie Police Station on May 27, 2014. The police ransacked his home and confiscated approximately 1,000 yuan of paper bills that had Falun Gong messages on them, as well as Falun Gong books, and other personal items.

24. [Yueqing City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Wu Lianfen Arrested

Ms. Wu Lianfen was arrested on May 27, 2014. She is being held at the Dajing Town Police Station.

25. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Zhao Zunwei Detained

Mr. Zhao Zunwei, in his 50s, was arrested by Liangdaojie Police Station officers on the evening of May 22, 2014, for distributing materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. He was taken to the Qingling Detention Center on May 23, 2014.

Mr. Chen Xianhui was arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Jiangjin District Police Department on the morning of May 27, 2014, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. He was taken to the Jiangjin District Detention Center.
