Crimes of the 610 Office in the Akesu Region

(Minghui.org) Officers from various agencies in Xinjiang including the Akesu Region 610 Office, the Domestic Security Division, Police Department, police stations and neighborhood administration offices, have collaborated in the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and their families. Below are several cases.

Death Cases

In 1999, not long after the persecution began, a young female Falun Gong practitioner, from Kuche County, Akesu City, died when she jumped from a train in an attempt to escape police officers who were taking her to a brainwashing center in Urumqi City.

Ms. Gong Xinping, from Akesu City, passed away at the age of 60 after years of torture and harassment. Ms. Gong had once been a paraplegic, but after practicing Falun Gong, she became healthy and miraculously regained the ability to walk. After the persecution began, she was sent to forced labor. After her release, she was continuously harassed by officers from the 610 Office and Neighborhood Administration Office. Agents from the 610 Office suspected that she used the Internet to access Falun Gong information and ordered her husband monitor her 24 hours a day. In 2011, she suddenly developed a cerebral hemorrhage and hospitalized. She passed away on April 5, 2012.

Ms. Xie Zhiying, a former official of the Land Tax Bureau passed away as a result of torture for her belief in Falun Gong, in August 2011. Subsequently, her 80-year-old mother, Ms. Yuan Jingyun, and her brother Mr. Xie Zhiming, were forced to live separately to avoid persecution by the authorities. Her mother stayed at her workplace alone, but was later taken to a nursing home. She passed away on January 20, 2014, at the age of 83.

Constant Terror

During the holidays, police target practitioners for harassment and arrest. Agents from the 610 Office in Akesu Region try to extort information from closely monitored practitioners in an attempt to arrest even more. They attempt to bribe them with small gifts or they threaten them, so as to get information and capture more Falun Gong practitioners.

Officers from the 610 Office have taken practitioners to brainwashing centers many times. One guard, Zhang Yongjun, from the No. 5 Prison, Urumqi City, went to Akesu City Brainwashing Center to torture Falun Gong practitioners. Mr. An Jingsong, was brutally beaten when he was held at the brainwashing center.
