Twelve Practitioners from Benxi City Face Trial

(Minghui.org) Twelve practitioners from Benxi City, Liaoning Province were scheduled to be tried on June 3, 2014, after they had been detained for 13 months.

During those 13 months, they were forced to perform labor that required the use of toxic glue, which made them sick and dizzy. Their eyes turned red and became puffy, and their bodies became numb, and ached. Ms. Wang Xiulian's left leg had to be amputated. She had difficulty moving, so she refused to work. She was then handcuffed with her hands behind her back for three hours.

The practitioners' families hired 13 lawyers after the arrests. The lawyers and families appealed on their behalf. They went to different government departments with a letter asking that the practitioners' cases be withdrawn and they be released. They used these opportunities to tell the officials the facts about Falun Gong.

When plainclothes officers went to practitioners' homes to arrest them on April 25, 2013, they showed no identification. They even stole money and jewelry.

The practitioners refused to sign any documents because the arrests were illegal.

One of the lawyers said, “This violent regime is using all its power to suppress a group of people with faith. It's use of suppression and violence will make it easier for people to distinguish between good and bad, and the practitioners will persist in their beliefs. I will do my best to help these kind people.”

Practitioners due to be tried were Ms. Yu Lixin, Ms. Wang Xiuyan, Ms. Zhang Meizhen, Mr. Liu Shiye, Ms. Sun Yuxia, Ms. Li Yan, Mr. Gao Chong, Ms. Li Xin, Ms. Wang Xiulian, Mr. Gao Gang, Ms. Ma Yuxiang, and Mr. Li Chunzheng.
