(Minghui.org) The prosecutors of Jinchuan District Procuratorate in Jinchang City, Gansu Province, indicted Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Dexiang in March 2014 for the second time. The procurator attempted to have her found guilty for practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Li was followed and illegally arrested by officers from the Jinchang City Domestic Security Division, when she was meeting with practitioner Mr. Duan Zhihu on August 28, 2013. The police later arrested her husband and her son and coerced them to identify other practitioners who knew Ms. Li. The officers also demanded that her husband and son sign a so-called deposition against Ms. Li. The Jinchuan District Procuratorate approved the arrest on September 30, 2013.
Ms. Li's attorney went to the court and procuratorate to inquire about her case and was told that there wasn't any case against her on December 26, 2013. The attorney went to the Longshou Police Department in Jinchang and submitted the bail application to Li Dezhi, the officer who handled her case. The bail application was denied three days later.
Ms. Li's mother and other family members went to the Longshou Police Department the next day, but staff from Domestic Security refused to see them. They found Li Yi, the director of the Longshou Police Department, and he told them that the case had been handed over to the Jinchuan District Procuratorate. He also told her mother that the procuratorate would not release Ms. Li.
Ms. Li's mother returned to the Jinchuan District Procuratorate on December 31, 2013, and was told that the case had been returned to the Longshou Police Department due to insufficient evidence.
Prior Arrests
Since the persecution of Falun Gong was launched in July 20, 1999, police officers and Chinese Communist officials from Jinchang City have arrested Ms. Li nine times. She was tortured in a forced labor camp for 18 months. She was also sentenced to a five-year term.
Ms. Li was transferred and tortured to different places, including a detention center, drug rehabilitation center, forced labor camp, and prison. She was incarcerated a total of seven years for practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Li was sentenced to a forced labor camp for 18 months on March 24, 2000. A judge in Jinchuan District Court sentenced her to five years in prison on December 16, 2004. She was released on August 21, 2007.
