(Minghui.org) After Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Guohua was arrested in Beijing on March 4, 2014, the police took her back to her hometown.

Her husband, Mr. Lin Qingrong, was arrested in the Changping District in Beijing on January 28, 2014, for telling others about the persecution of Falun Gong. He is being held at the Changping Detention Center. His family was told that a decision whether he would be sentenced or not would be made within 37 days.

The couple has endured relentless persecution over the past ten plus years. At one point they were taken to a mental hospital in Yangzhou City for no reason and injected with unknown drugs. They were also forced to undergo brainwashing at a brainwashing center. The wife was sentenced to three years in prison in 2007. The husband was again held at a mental hospital in 2008.

They are from Baoying County, Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province, and were doing odd jobs in Beijing.

Injected with Unknown Drugs

Mr. Lin, 50, and his wife were arrested in Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province, on January 4, 2001, for distributing truth clarification materials about Falun Gong. They were taken to Wutaishan Mental Hospital in Yangzhou City and injected with unknown drugs.

The doctor said to Mr. Lin, “We know you aren't ill, but we have to do this on orders from the local police department.” After the couple was arrested, no one looked after their children and parents.

Wife and Husband Transferred to Brainwashing Center

Mr. Lin later was taken to Xinghua Brainwashing Center in Jiangsu Province on September 9, 2004. His wife was transferred to the same brainwashing center on October 20.

Practitioners were isolated and held in a small cell in the brainwashing center. About seven people crowded into the cell and attempted to “transform” them.

Ms. Li could hear practitioners screaming in the next cell when they were beaten. The following day, Ms. Li met a practitioner in the restroom who was beaten, but guards prevented them from talking to each other.

Wife Transferred to Nursing Home, Escapes, and Is Arrested Again

Ms. Li was transferred to the Xiaji Town Nursing Home and locked in a room with two security doors. She was monitored by Fang Yuming, who was in charge of the nursing home. Fang ordered someone to beat her.

One evening, Ms. Li escaped and went home. Local authorities ordered CCP members from the village to surround her home. Ms. Li was arrested and returned to the nursing home.

They tried to make her renounce her belief. Even though she was later released, she was still monitored. When she visited her mother, director of the local police station Gao Weiping arrested her again in March 2006. She was released that July.

Wife Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

Ms. Li Guohua was arrested again on January 27, 2007. She said: “I was arrested at 3 a.m. by director Gao Weiping and about eight officers while I was asleep. They broke in and arrested me without letting me get dressed.

“Zhao Changgui, Zheng Yong, and Zheng Yanbing from the vice squad were called in to torture me. I was handcuffed and forced to stand for 18 days. They also grabbed my shoulders and pushed me against the wall many times. Zheng Yanbing stepped on me, and Zhao Changgui punched and kicked me and cuffed my hands behind my back with one hand over my shoulder. To tighten the handcuffs, he put something between my hand and the handcuffs. They also didn't give me enough food to eat.

“I was transferred to the local detention center on February 6. Guard Chen Yuping beat me, and guard Zhang Qiaohong handcuffed me to a big board.”

Ms. Li was sentenced to three years in prison and transferred to the Nantong Women's Prison on September 2007.

She said: “Every practitioner was forced to take medicine as soon as they entered the prison. The guards Wang Zhihong, Sun Xingyun and Kan Jianqiu specifically targeted practitioners. They ordered inmates to beat me and poured cold water over me in the winter. They also shocked me with electric batons, handcuffed me, and then hung me from the frame of the bunk bed. Inmates were assigned to monitor me.

“They always tortured practitioners in secret. When their superiors checked on them, they ordered the practitioners to sit in the workshop. After their superiors left, they took the practitioners to a small cell or their office to beat them in an effort to force them to renounce their belief.

“Practitioners were also deprived of sleep if they refused to give up their belief, or transferred to the mental hospital.”

Ms. Li was transferred to the Pukou Mental Hospital in Nanjing City in 2009. Many practitioners were held there and were forced to take unknown drugs that destroy the central nervous system.

Husband Arrested During the Olympics

Mr. Lin Qingrong was arrested during the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and was held at Yanhe Clinic in Baoying County. During that time, his mother was dying.

Since 1999, Mr. Lin's family has also suffered. No one looked after his teenage son when they were arrested. When the police arrested Mr. Lin and his wife, Mr. Lin's mother tried to stop them. The police pushed her and she fell down. She died in 2009 while the couple was detained.
