(Minghui.org) Seven Falun Gong practitioners were tried secretly at the Nangou Detention Center in Fushun, Liaoning Province, on Dec. 16, 2014. None of their families were notified about these trial proceedings.
The seven practitioners are Wang Jiaguo, Li Li, Wang Guoying, Wei Shaomin, Wang Defen, and two other practitioners whose names are unknown.
On the morning of December 16, the seven practitioners – including an elderly man in his eighties – were handcuffed, shackled, and shoved into a trial room in the detention center.
Seventy-four-year-old Wei Shaomin was dragged into the trial room in her slippers. When she tried to speak in her own defense, she was subdued and forcefully dragged away by police.
Li Li and Wang Defen's requests for defense attorneys were denied by the judge.
During the trial, two attorneys questioned the validity of the evidence, the court's denial of the defendants' legitimate requests, and the law enforcement officers' unlawful behavior – employees of the court had verbally and physically abused the attorneys. In the end, the attorneys were pulled away by court police.
The five-hour-long trial did not reach a decision.
Seventeen Practitioners Arrested on the Same Day
The seven practitioners on trial were part of the arrests of seventeen practitioners in Fushun on June 20, 2014, including Wang Jiaguo (male, 81), Wei Shaomin (female, 74), Li Li (female, 62), Wang Defen (female, 54), Tang Hongyan (female, 50), Wang Guoying (female, 42), and others.
Practitioners Li Li, Wang Defen and a driver called Jin Zhe went to visit Wang Jiaguo around 9:00 a.m. on June 20 to give Wang a lift in their car. As they exited Wang's residence, the local policemen who had been monitoring them snatched Wang's house key from his hands.
They proceeded to break into Wang's home and arrest five more practitioners who were studying Falun Dafa teachings inside. They are Zhou Yufang, Guan Jiali, Wei Shaomin, Tian Xiangyun and Xu Yinlei. Tian Xiaoyun and Zhou Yufang were sent to Xinhua Street Police Station. Li Li and Wang Jiaguo were sent to Fushuncheng Police Station.
Later in the morning, the police from Fushuncheng Police Station went to Wang Jiaguo's home again and arrested Wang's wife, Tang Hongyan, and her visitors, Wang Defen, Wang Guoying and Li Bai.
Police from Fumin Police Station broke into Falun Gong practitioner Xu Xueqing's home at around 12:30 p.m. the same day. They arrested Xu and three other Falun Gong practitioners, Lin Yuzhen, Wu Fuzhen and Zhao Yumei.
